yes ya can get a center console shifter on an xlt, hmm maybe its changed for this year, but it has been an option, just rare, like flareside xlt's

 

I am looking at the Ford Source book and it says floor shifter is only option on FX4s and lariats

What leads you to believe such a thing?

Does it have a black dash? You can get an FX4 w/ any color interior as long as its BLACK. Sometimes grey leather seats (an option) but ALWAYS had a black dash, door panels, etc. Note: Black interior was an option on a lariat but NOT XLT.

Also (as many have stated before) it will have the special FX4 instrument cluster.

Center console (flow-through type) was an option for the lariat and FX4 but NOT the XLT

Painted bumpers came on FX4's, Lariats (w/ optional lower paint) and STX models. ALL XLT bumpers are chrome

FX4's and Lariats come only with the 5.4....period. Optional for XLT & XL

Cloth seats on FX4's are black

Wheels are also specific to FX4 (18")

1. 1998+ F-150 does not have a solid axle

2. my fender flares are BLACK

3.on motorcraft.com they have different part #'s. you can also feel the difference...I did when I test drove a Lariat 4x4 vs. my Fx4 before purchase

4. I agree on the black dash. I have yet to see a non black interior for a FX4

5. all FX4's have color keyed bumpers...the 07+ have color key door handles/mirrors

 

The FX4 on the 04+ will also always have the 3.73 Limited Slip Axle Ratio and little things like fog lamps, electronic 4WD shift, and key less entry keypad just to say some

 

my fx4 has 3.55 ratio

 

They not black, they are DARK GREY!!!! Been like that from 04 to 08.

Well if according to the Ford website 3.73 is standard on the FX4 at least on the 08's but i think has been like that on all the 04s and up. At least on mine 05 it came standard.

 

maybe it has something to do with the wheel combo. mine came with 17" wheels also.

 

ya that may be it because i dont think they offfer that wheel on the 08s anymore. cool

 

yeah....that's like when Ford calls Tan a "Light Prairie"...I went out and looked at them in the sunshine...their BLACK. if they are a dark grey, then so are my mirrors and door handles
