I am not understanding the question? Are you asking if your 4x4 is in fact an FX4 or are you asking if your f-150 is an FX4?

First thing to check is to see if you have 4 wheel drive. Look under your truck for axles attached to the front wheels and once this is confirmed then move to the next step.

most of the FX4s that i have seen have black ****pit style gauges with the "FX4" logo where the gear indicator normally is. I have only seen FX4s with center console shifters and i thought that was the package, i could be wrong. The fender badges will NOT display FX4 unless they are aftermarket. oh and last thing, FX4s normally get dark gray plastic, i.e NOT painted, fender flares unless you opted for the FX4 Luxury Package. those are the quickest ways to tell, in my opinion.

 

oh i see, well back in the day, the fx4 had only dark gray bottom paint, guess its changed. what part of the vin denotes fx4?

fx4 should have:
4x4
5.4L
not chrome wheels
skidplates
drivers side keyless entry pad?
sticker
fx4 in the instrument cluster, if center shifter

id like to add, fx4's are not a big deal, just cost a big deal, better wheels, leather seats, even dash kits can be added to xlt with money to spare, next time i would get..

xlt with all the power features, center console, but 4x4, crappiest wheels, crappiest seats,

get seat covers, get leveing kit, 33's and new wheels, or even if i wanted fx4 rims i could get em here on the classifieds or ebay for cheap as heck.

with the money saved i might be able to get a suspension lift, and 35's

i hope you got what you paid for, but if you dont have an fx4, i hope you paid appropriately

 

mengela , you are very correct. So correct in fact that the origional question here was that he might actually have one of these clone trucks. you can make your truck into anything, therefore the only way to tell is to run the VIN#.

 

Every single thing we have talked about here (fenders, paint, colors, seats, console, etc, etc) is all either optional or has changed over the years. The only constant to all of this on an FX4 is the instrument cluster. Yes, yes, I know that can be changed but of all the things that are easy to make an FX4 (stickers on the bed come to mind), I would guess the cluster is the least likely.

 

Ooops, i was thinking about the body color door handles and grill.

ALL FX4s have the dark gray wheel lip moldings 2004-2008

and as far as getting the XLT and saving money... you cannot get a floor shifter with center console on an XLT, which is an option i prefer.

Not saying this is not a good idea (Which it is), i would do it myself and i have thought about it but i like the floor shifter.

 

oh yea, FX4s (except the luxury package) do NOT have vanity mirror lights. kinda sucks.

no power options
no skidplates- maybe a few people got ripped off here...
