reading all this makes me feel good.
bought new in 2003,, best truck outta 5 fords i ever had,, 41,000 miles,, 68 & retired ,, so use mostly for towing boat,, nothing major,, replaced shocks and struts this fall,,had all scratches re-painted last summer,, looks like new truck,,can't find reason to buy a new one, ,, otherwise just do oil changes and use good gas. It is a very strong engine,, 5.4 only problem was the plugs.

Couldn't ask for a better truck!
265,490 miles on it now and still going strong. Unfortunately, center support bearing gave out on it a few days ago, so now I have to replace the entire driveshaft (shaft is an unservicable one), what can you do? I'll never get rid truck, best vehicle I've ever owned!!

New member...I have a 2006 F-150 FX4 SCAB, ~66K miles. Other than tires, brakes, thermostat (and hoses), plugs and fluid changes everything is good.
My 3rd brake light is leaking...I siliconed the crap out of it and that seemed to fix it. If I have to change any of the light in it I'll just buy a new housing.

Sun roof track
Just replaced my sunroof track on my 2004 fx4 crew at 190,000 miles. Parts were from sunroof doctor for $130. Was a challenging repair, especially if you have never dropped the headliner before. Id say it took me about 6-7 hours, first time doing it. Make sure you have a rivet gun and follow the instructions. The instructions are a bit vague, and they dont define what part is what. The instructions are 3 paragraphs with one illustration that is a bit confusing. All in all got the track replaced, recalibrated the motor, and it is good as new.
Ready to go back to carwash 😃

What sort of engine maintenance have you had to do over the years? Any of the typical VCT repairs and what not? Currently have 180 on mine and it runs fantastic and I hope to see as many reliable miles of service as you have

Bought the truck at 90k in '07 so I can't say what was done before that but I have done nothing but routine maintenance really. Plugs, coil packs, fan belts, oil changes, and alternator, batteries, vacuum 4x4 solenoid (after I drove thru deep water to help a friend).....I have replaced the front hubs (at about 225k), fuel pump regulator, front brake calipers, and I have a power steering pump that is louder than the exhaust...and I believe I need to replace my transfer case seal where the transmission ties in.
As for rust, only real place is at the bottom back of the cab behind the rear doors.
But for the miles and the work this truck does all of that to me is routine.
This truck has been and continues to be an awesome truck, as a vocal die hard Ford fan my non Ford friends (if you can call someone who drives other trucks "friends") hate this truck. 271k and she doesn't skip a beat.

I had a couple friends and family members bashing my potential purchase for different reasons, mostly related to the mileage and some because it's a Ford. But as they've seen it and ridden in it they've been quite surprised at how good of condition it's in and how well it runs for 180k. It's a solid truck, I'm extremely happy with my decision!!

Okay, after research I decided to not do the PS pump myself. A FoMoCo unit was $155 thru the dealer and I was guessing 3 hours in the cold fighting the one bolt and hose everyone said you can't get.....I called the shop I use and they quoted me $330.00 replaced with a FoMoCo and a complete flush of the system.
She goes in tonight and should be done tomorrow.
