I haven't been on in a while so here we go. She has about 102K on the clock as well.
Sway bar end links at around 70K ish
Installed a leveling kit 3" HBS decided it was way to much for the front so I got a 1.5 AS. Both kits beat the crap out of my components.
tie rod end at 96K during a camping trip.
The front end started to develop a similar type noise as the sway bar end links so I decided to take these POS spacers off. Boy did the noise get louder. We decided it could be the upper control arm ball joints as the boots were on their last leg anyways. Replaced them at 101K and the noise was still there.
So I disconnected the sway bar to see if it was the end links again... nope!!
Frustrated, I took it to a local shop where the immediately identified the problem. Blown front strut. By Blown, I mean the f'n strut rod broke through the top of the shock assembly.
So I got some new OE spec suspension coming in to replace all of it.
Bottom line is I doubt I would have had to do these repairs if I had not put the leveling kits on. I think those things are really bad news.
Other than that its been a pretty good truck. Not great but pretty good.
Had the spark plugs replaced at about 100K. 3 broke I think.
I have a rust spot developing on the roof, under one of those weather strip things.

More outstanding news.... I went to get my alignment yesterday since installing the new upper control arms and suspension. They took my truck back and about 5 minutes later the service guy comes up and says I have a bad lower ball joint. All I can think of is mother Fu$%#WDDSA$T#^T@Q$T Piece of S%&#!!!
This will be my fourth time tearing this front end apart. The only thing left stock are the lower control arms, one tie rod end, and CV axles. Is there anything else I should look for or replace while I have the BAst##@ apart again?
Holy crap this sucks!! I wished I would have never put on those leveling kits! Other than that she is driving pretty well. No need in selling her anytime soon.

Since I haven't been around for quite awhile, I thought I would start by checking in on my old thread here.

Well, my '04 is over 9 years old now and it's been holding up very well. I replaced a power steering hose about a month ago and what a bugger of a project that was. I highly recommend paying the labor to have it done, it took the better part of 6 hours to get the old hose out and the new one in. She's a big truck but it's still pretty tight under the hood making these projects difficult.
All it's needed over the years are things that wear out through normal wear and tear. Shocks, brakes, serp belt, hoses, battery, tires and the like. Front end is still tight with the same parts that she got from the factory, nothing has needed replacing so far.

Keep the updates coming, it's been a good read.

Thumbs up 04 S crew

I'm loving it. 141K and only major thing I had to do so far was replace the exhaust manifold on passenger side. Zero studs broken thank God!!! Had the brakes, rotors and calipers replaced about 3 years ago and had 1 caliper lock up on me last year. Easy fix really. Just recently did a new transmission filter and replaced transfer case fluids. Pull my travel trailer weighing at close to 7K at least 9-10 times during the summer and maybe twice during hunting season. Great truck so far.

I'm at just under 94k now. FInally front end is completely new, next year she'll get upper shock mounts, but the entire steering and suspension is 100% new, rack included. After some work on Friday I have had 3 sets of front calipers, 1 set of hoses, and all ball joints changed. I've fought steering issues the past 1.5 years and I'm very pleased with the truck now. Occasionally I get some pulling on severe road crowns, but my tires are much wider than stock and with my drop it seems the camber was affected. Should be taken care of this week. I'm happy overall, it's been an expensive past 2 years but she's almost a toy

Figured I'd throw in my two cents here.

At 180k miles right now on my '04.

Apart from the wear and tear, I've got the following:

Transmission problems (overdrive is gone),

Replaced alternator and serpentine belt,

Had to get the PCM reprogrammed and throttle body cleaned out per TSB,

And now I've got a mystery coolant leak that I'm trying to solve.

All together, I guess you could say I'm pleased.

My 2005 Screw Lariat has had the tranny rebuilt 3 times under warranty starting at 25K and replaced at 42K under warranty. The remanned tranny that went in there last all of about 50K then reverse went out as I was backing up the driveway with the boat not a good feeling might I add replaced it with a Jasper since I plan on keeping it for another 10 yrs or so. Plugs replaced under warranty other then that no other issues what so ever truck now has about 94K and still looks and drives like the day it rolled off the lot.

mine has 107k on it and has rust issues. the paint on the bed around the rear wheels is peeling and bubbling. the underside of the bed looks pretty bad as well. this weekend i replaced the rear axle pinion bearings and found the seal between the trans and transfer case is bad allowing fluid from the trans to push into the transfer case. when i pulled the fill plug on the transfer case about 2qts of fluid came out. i replaced the fuel pump driver module last year when i found it was cracked wide open. i replaced the upper control arms and front links about 2 years ago. i bought this truck new and used it as a daily driver and tow vehicle most of its life. its been a good truck and i would drive it cross country tomorrow but due to the rust issues i may replace it next summer with a cleaner truck.

My truck just hit 150,000 miles. Ive had a few issues along the way. But im very pleased with how my truck is holding up. 04 xlt supercrew.
Replaced outer axle seals and bearings.
New Altenator and battery.
Tree fell on my roof and popped the paint lose a couple years ago. Sanded and repainted and it looks great.
Gotts mod, Bambi mod.
Not to many mods right now,,, im too busy using the truck to mod anything. LOL
Upgraded to a VW style flip key/fob like a few people have done. (hate jingling keys)
Pugs,Coils,filters (including fuel filters)
Rancho Adjustable Quick struts and shocks. sitting on Goodyear Duratracs.
Slight bubbling starting to show its ugly face at the bottom of the body where it meets the bed. Area affected is about the size of a Kennedy half dollar. Gonna take it to my body guy soon. $300 ish to cut the rust and replace and paint.

Honestly the biggest problem with the truck is that every 250 miles i have to put gas in it! LOL!

Its been a good truck and has never left me stranded. Still runs better than the day i bought it.

I have an 05 5.4 and I'm at 108k now. The previous owner was the first owner of it and used it for hauling antiques to and from. The only paperwork he had was that he replaced the battery on it. Other than that it ran rock solid until I got it. Since then no major issues *knock on wood* yesterday I had to replace the rear brake pads and awhile back the passenger window regulator went out and the drivers is fixing to go soon as well. The power rear window also doesn't work anymore but that's not a real concern for me. Other than that this truck has treated me well and I have returned the favor.

Update on mine.

Sitting with 113k on her now. Only put about 5k miles a year on her. Pretty much just tows the sleds all winter and gets driven on the weekends. Best thing I ever did was get this truck oil undercoated every fall. I have no rust and my frame is still shinny black.

1) On my 3rd front end, ties, *****, bearings (I have a 2" level kit up front, I blame that but like my level kit)
2) New leaf springs
3) Fresh respray on the front
4) 3rd exhaust (damn NE winters)
5) New coil packs
6) Tranny is still holding on!
