I understand if you don't want to answer as my asking you this might not be proper or even a bit invasive, but I am just a little curious
mitch150, no problem. I no longer needed such a big vehicle and the gas that goes with it. I also had a chance to purchase a very clean Mercedes C class that is better suited for all of the solo driving I do each day. I will be looking into another F150 in the future I am sure! Cheers!

Thanks for the response, wasn't sure if you were gone from the site since selling it and cool that you've stuck around. I understand the gas issue, especially if you don't have the need for a truck anymore....... but a Mercedes? That's alright, I know it's not a Mercedes but my sister in-law has a ragtop BMW that I have to admit is a ****load of fun to drive. I've gotten to take it out a few times and it is blast to open her up on the highway with the top down. Her fuel mileage isn't all that much better than my 150 though. If I were you I'd be afraid of the cost of maintenance and repair . How long have you had it? Probably apples and oranges, but I'd be curious of the comparison of owning the tough American monster to the German engineered toy. Good luck with the new ride Surf and let us know how it's going, good or bad

04 xlt

My 04 XLT 2wd super cab has 90,000. Miles and running great!!! Had an issue with my tranny a little over a year ago.... Lost overdrive. Just replaced the front strut assembly (both sides) added Hellbent steel spacers and new rubber, Firestone destination AT's. Truck looks great now. Waiting for Edge Products programer to come in this week. Dont see me getting rid of this rig for a very long time.

The only serious (I use that somewhat lightly) issue I have had is 3 of the 4 window regulators have gone bad. I just hit 98k miles.

Motor is almost gone, 163k.

I assume it is the 4 piece brass thrust bearing is gone bad/missing, crank moved some cutting off oil flow to vct soleniods and truck is in self destruct mode, best sounding tractor I have ever heard, timing bank 1 is retarted... bicycle chains are smacking the timing cover, probably sending aluminum to the pan and oil pick up, further starving the motor....so new motor time

My 04 is 2wd an extended cab with the 4.6 L V8. 142,000 miles and it's running strong. I've replaced everything though; brakes, rotors, calipers, shocks, struts, tie rods, ball joints, etc after I purchased it when it had 117,000 miles. Drives like a brand new truck now though! Also threw a 2 1/2" level and 33's on it

Bought my beatiful 2004 STX in september last year, but it's been a wreck.. I have had an electrical issue where all the outside lights (flashers, headlamps, tail lights, reverse lights, high beams, etc..) just would not work. 8hrs of diagnostics at my local shop later, it was a connection under the truck at the driver side door that had "dirt" in it. cleaned it out, all worked.

Of course had regular maintenance stuff done to it, along with fixing a leak in the middle rear lamp which ruined my backseats (prev. owner never did anything so the seats rotted), but then, oh my..

the differential blew up... not a big deal, ~1500$ later and a month...

the transmission blew up...

Now I feel like I'm sitting on a ticking time bomb. what's next, probably the engine, aren't these notorious for blowing spark plugs out of the head?

I'm sure there have been many many many good stories, but this truck has taken me to the bank and back. I drove a ranger for 6 years with little to no issues, and would still buy a ford, although I think its time to go new.

Ford Quality

04, 30000 very easy miles.
Driver and passenger window regulators.
Rear end chatter
gas guage wacky
rear window works only when it wants to
transmission slipped into neutral. only done it once, so who knows if it will do it again.

needed alignment at 12000 miles
doors rattle
upholstery stains even with water
not supposed to be able to lock doors with key in ignition. you can do it with this lemon.

2004, with 183K miles and counting. It has been well maintained and used as a truck for its whole life. I routinely load a ton into the bed.
