in a responce too what okielightning said. I bought the Fusion key on ebay with the three button with out the truck release and it works great. I got ask the same question when i was looking for a locks smith to cut the key, and they told me that only a ford dealer or a locks smith can program the key. I told them its in the mamual, plus there were going to charge me $75.00 too $115.00 just too cut the key, but found a locks smith that only did it for $2.00

Got the three button key from ebay. Took it to Lowes, who cut it for free. Programmed it in the parking lot and drove off......does not rub at all.

Glad it worked out for you... But Lowes or HD would be the last place I'd have cut a $120 key. In my experience, they can't even cut $1.50 keys right. Seriously, I gave my local Lowes 3 chances to cut me a spare key to my house (mind you, this was just a normal Kwik key). They just couldn't get it right. I got my money back, went to a local locksmith, and had them do it properly on the 1st try.

Thats weird, I went to lowes, HD and Wal-mart and they told me that they couldn't cut the key because they didn't want too mess up there cutting machine, but at least I got it cut by a locks smith

I don't want to rain on anyones parade but, I have both and there is a downside.
My Ford key has an FOB attached by a ring.
My Lexus key is all-in-one like the Fusion key.

No issues with my Ford FOB.
The Lexus site has several threads about repair/replacement of the Lexus key.

Everytime you start/kill a Lexus, you are torquing the key in the ignition against the FOB keyhead in your hand.

My Lexus is a 2002.
Driven every day, with a couple of stops Apprx: 2200 torques x six years = 13,200 torques.
It's just something else that will break, and if it can break my wife will break it.

Personally, I'd rather have both my FOBs dangling from a ring.
I admit it's cool looking but, I keep my vehicles 10+ years.

You'll have to pay a visit to the dealer to have the new key programmed. I'm not sure, but I'd assume that they'd charge you 1 hour of labor.

Can a locksmith do this too?

A guy I work with need to have a second key programmed. He already has a cut key but can't program it because the transponder went bad in one of his two original two keys. His dealer quoted him 120 just to program it. I told him to check a local locksmith to see if they can do it and do it cheaper

You have a good point. My key wasn't $120, though, it was $30. Still a lot of money for a key, but any place I went could have messed up the key as easily as Lowes. I would have eaten the $30 no matter where I went, since I bought the key off ebay. I figured I might as well get it done where it was free....

Also, I didn't do this because it looks cool.....I did it because my other car is a mustang and the key and fob were hard to tell apart....I kept grabbing the wrong set of keys. Now I don't have that problem.

Got mine today, took it to the locksmith to have it cut and he did it for free. Key and remote work perfect!

You are right about the key torqueing/twisting, my wife has a Lexus and one of her remotes broke in about 3 years...its the spare now.
