I saw a Fusion key on Ebay with out the trunk button. Anybody used this key? I would hate to have a button that did nothing.

Thanks for the help guys!
This isn't as complicated as it looks (below). Just takes a lot of words to describe a few steps.

Yep, you sure can see if it'll work. I did this for my wife's Mustang.
1. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE PACKAGE. It is clearly stated that if you do you can't return it.
2. Get a non-PATS key cut. It'll cost you about $2 at your local hardware.
3. Get your two factory keys along with your new non-PATS key and your new Fusion key.
4. Insert factory key #1. Turn to the #3 position. This is on but don't start the vehicle. Keep it there for more than 1 second but less than 10 seconds.
5. Remove factory key #1 and insert factory key #2 and repeat step #4 while using factory key #2.
6. Remove factory key #2 and insert your non-PATS key AND hold your new Fusion key very close to the steering column. I basically used my fingers to sandwich the black part of both keys together. Now, repeat step #4 using your non-PATS key and Fusion key "sandwich".

At this point the security icon on your dash board should illuminate then turn off. Turn the key to the off position. Now attempt to start the vehicle with the non-PATS key while keeping the Fusion key very close to the steering column. Your truck should start. It took me two attempts because I may not have had the Fusion key close enough to the column but it WILL work. I guarantee it...provided you have the right key. If it doesn't work for you, bring it to me. I'll do it.

Key FOB is built into the bow of the key. One less thing to carry.

Besides...another mod to spend money on.

Speaking of which, I wonder who has spent the most on mods. Anyone want to come clean on how much they have spent. I'd start but I know my measly $700 that I spent will pale in comparison to what others have spent.

There is a possibility that we'll have to start a modders anonymous support group.

Yes, you program the FOB and the key (separately) just like it says in the owners manual. I did two of these for my truck a year or so ago.

I take it that the instructions are in my F-150 owners manual? How about the cut on the key?

My dealer cut the keys for free Before I went there I tried my local locksmith. They were gonna charge me $2 but the bow of the key was to big for their machine and they didn't want to mess it up.

Well I finally got around to buying one of these keys. When I went to the local locksmith to have it cut, they guy tried to "sell" me on having him program it. I declined, and then he said "are you a mechanic or something, because only a mechanic can do it." I kinda chuckled, and again said no thanks. After he cut it, I proceeded to go out to my truck and program it right in his parking lot. Within about 3 minutes I was driving off (using the new key).

Anyway, I really like the all-in-one key. It's very similiar to the key for my wife's '05 Pilot. As others have noted, the only downside is that it does rub a little on the rubber piece on the steering column surround. To fix it, I used a buffing wheel on my Dremmel to slightly shave a little of the rubber off. Now there is no rubbing, and you can't tell it was altered at all.

Thanks to all for this suggestion.
