Fusion Key

I decided i wanted to have less on my key chain, so i went down to the ford dealer and bought a fusion key. Part number 6E5Z-15K601-B. The dealer cut it for me, and after simple programming in thier lot, it works.

It was about $115 after tax, at the dealer. I have seen them on ebay for cheaper. But i wasnt really worried about the cost.

From a programming perspective...

Obviously there are two things to program -- PATS & Remote -- Correct? Simply follow the procedure in the manual for both?

That's it, just remember to have all your remotes ready when you do it.

Any way to test to see if the PATS is programmed PRIOR to having the key cut?

Thanks for the help guys!

You know with post I did when I was testing the pats, I would have to say yes. You would need another key (Steel Key) to do it and it may be a little bit of a pain in the butt. You can do it though.
Go the your hardware store and get a steel key. Then follow the instructions to program it holding the Fusion key over the steel key then it's like it's the same key. You may need a few practice runs because to do this you will need to put the steel key in and the Fusion key over it and not time yourself out of the program mode. This will work and your key should to.

I was reflecting back on your experiment after I posted that question... I was just hoping that there was an easier way... then again, spending a few bucks on a steel key isn't a big deal either I suppose.

$3 on a steel with the option to return the expensive Fusion key isn't a bad investment -- especially if the Fusion key, for some reason or another, won't work for me.

Brad one more thing. When you get the steel key and before you start. Do a test with it (steel key and a programmed key) like I did so you can see how strong your signal is. Then you'll know where you will have to put the Fusion key to do it. For me it was putting the bow of each key over each other with the blade facing away.

what about remote start? I have the 4-button remote start from Ford. I wonder if the Fusion key can be programmed for that.
