Love my F150 but, the Titan
Wow, long thread.... good too.... I have an 05 Titan and have pretty much found my opinion exactly within this thread.
The powertrain is great, really it's the 5spd auto..... if/when Ford gets it, I'll be back. The Titan's increase in HP in 07 is marketing bs.... it was under-rated from the start so they could claim an increase. The infiniti with the same engine has always been rated at 317hp.
The interior and ride is nowhere near as nice as the F150.
The visibility is poor. I'm tall and have a hard time seeing past the tint strip at the top of the windshield but have got used to it. It actually seems that the new F150's are smaller than my 99 was. I really had more legroom in that 99.... it was nice.
The power rear window is cool.... it reminds me of an old toyota 4runner I had. Nothing like being able to get some good cross-flow of air through the truck quickly.
In the end, it was a split second decision.... I got the Titan for less than a comparable F150 at the time. I got 1.9 apr for 5 years and Ford wouldn't do anyting close... that really made the difference. Honestly, that and the Ford salesman was kind of a jerk. It's funny what a difference one salesman can make.
All of the new trucks are nice and you are lucky to own any one of them.... We all benefit from the competition.

I had an 05' SE Titan before my F150. I think the Titan is one fast truck but thats about it. The F150 rides better and has better vision out of the cab than the Titan. The Titan was also a little loud inside the cab for me.

More often then not I do wish I had the extra horse power. Its not a .8 sec difference, that can be overcome by reaction time etc. Its 2 seconds etc. I think about it all the time when I'm on the freeway I have to wonder Is this guy next to me going to speed up and block me from getting by all of this traffic. Or Will I be able to take this guy off the line at a light so I can get around him etc.
Yes I understand its a truck I use it to haul my gang boxes around along with materials for work. Buts its also my everyday driver. Besides that I love my truck and I want it to get the respect it deserves. I would like to have the best of both worlds my truck with all its room and comfort (of a ford) and some better more comparable performance.
If it is only a truck why did they make the SRT-10, or lightnings why even sell performance parts at all. I bought my truck and I want it to be all my beast can be. I want other manufactured trucks to fear the F150.

The thing is, it Already blows most cars away, especially on the highway. I get messed with all the time by Civics and other ricers and Destroy them in my truck.
I have a 4WD truck with Gnarly tires so I guess I'm not in the SRT or Lightning class. I can understand why those guys may be searching for horsepower, but that's not really the Majority of the people buying trucks these days and what the F150/Titan debate is all about. I've got a motorcycle for goin fast.

Once you pass that it gets a little gray.... there are a lot of really fast new cars out there. When you get up past and into the 20K range it becomes much more a function of who's driving, how much attention they're paying and how bad I need to get where I'm going. I don't typically race just for fun..... well sometimes, but usually when I need to push my truck it's to get ahead of some jackass to get where I'm going. As mentioned, if you need to go really fast get a motorcycle....

That's a good rule of thumb!

Other than a little more horsepower what makes the Nissan a better drive train
For a long time when I was younger I drove Toyota trucks that were for the most part way underpowered... I had one that was an AT that was a nightmare.... Same engine with a 5spd was actually okay... It just takes some effort and understanding as to where the power in the engine is at.
I drove an F150 for 3 years prior to the Titan, I've rode street motorcycles, dirt bikes, atv's, lawnmowers... blah, blah... so I feel that I'm a pretty educated driver..... and I can say for me, the way I drive, the F150 just didn't have the same umph!
BTW... Nassty.... I would definitely make an exception to my 17K rule for either of those... I think I'd pretend to be looking at a map so as to not be embarrased.... Nice rides. I've always liked those.... I remember as a kid, checking out the specs in Car and Driver... Those things are screamers right off the lot.... and once you mod them a bit... look out!

It reminds me of driving a motorcycle... My last bike was a 6spd, I think. A good tranny makes the most out of the hp.
