It seems to me that Ford is focusing their attention on the drive shaft. They have done alot of work on my drive shaft as of late to try and get the vibration out.
The Ford engineer did admit that there was a pulsating vibration present, so that was positive. All I could get out of the service manager at the dealership is that the Ford engineer brought a kit full of washers and nuts and then went to work on the flange connecting the driveshaft and rear end. They drove it multiple times and finally were very satisfied with the adjustments.
My personal feelings are there is some kind of engineering snafu or tolerance issues with some of these trucks in or around the driveshaft. Just my two cents....

newbie here. I have '04 FX4 built 8/04. I just picked it up 2 days ago and I have noticed a slight shimmy in the steering wheel in the mph's mentioned here on this post.
I am hoping that it will stay slight and not develop into something worse. I have 3.73 LS and 18" wheels/tires.

I drove the truck this evening into town and the vibration is still present at 55 MPH. I think its DSB time or a request for a 100,000 mile warranty to cover the drive line when it blows apart from the vibration.
This was my third and final visit. Can anyone tell me what the DSB is all about and how to handle the situation?

Contact your dealer for information on the Dispute Settlement Board. The DSB is an independent group not Ford employees that will help you with your claims against Ford. The dealer should send you the DSB form and make sure you have a copy of your states Lemon Law waver form included with the DSB application. You can call the DSB 1.800.392.3673 and ask for an application. P.O. Box 5120 Southfield, MI 48086-5120
Remember the DSB ruling is binding on Ford but not you. If the DSB rules against your claim you can always use your state Lemon Law.

I'm persuing the DSB since Ford basically told me I was screwed in regards to the ongoing vibration issue with my truck.
Can anyone that went through this process give me any pointers? What can I expect? I want to be prepared to fight this issue.

gulp. have a 2-day old xlt 4x4 r/c sitting pretty outside that has not been test-driven at freeway speed.... here i go. wish me luck.
btw, the '01 f150 4x2 i traded in always had an annoying case of the shakes between 60-70 mph, but i learned to live with it (don't spend much time on freeways...)
can't believe i was dim-witted enough not to test drive the '04 on the freeway...
will try to get through the whole thread, but is there a post that has a summary of common denominators on this issue?

This site talks about driveline vibration in a 99 Mustang Cobra. But the driveline vibration described is just like my 04 XLT F-150 Scab 5.4.

Ok you guys are freaking me out!!!! I am supposed to pick up my 04 F150 FX4 friday. I don't know if I want it now! I obviously need to take it for a test drive to see if I got one of the "good" ones. But will this be vibrating be evident right away or am I going to see it after 500 or a 1000 miles? So should I say no to the 04 and just buy an 05 or do the 05's have the same problem. HELP! I don't want to buy a 35k lemon in 3 days.

I just got a call from the dealership that's working on my truck. They made numerous phone calls up through the chain of command at Ford, and finally found out that there is a known problem in some of the transmissions. My entire transmission is going to get replaced tomorrow, and I should have my truck back on Friday. I will definitely be posting in quite a few threads here on this site the results of the repair.
