I do feel bad for those having problems. For the last three months I have spoken to well over 15 f150 owners while out and about. Not one has said their truck has a vibration issue. Now I know they do have some vibrating problems but it must be a small percent.

Took my truck back in yesterday, rode with the lead tech., he felt the vibe right off the bat, said the the vibration is the only real problem with these trucks that they have seen, they ordered a new rear end and another drive shaft ( drive shaft is being re-engineered by ford won't be ready till September ). This is a problem with more trucks than we think, that is the impression he gave me.

Well, I finally broke down and took my truck in last night for the steering wheel nibble, the drivetrain vibration between 55 and 65 MPH, and possibly defective tires. I haven't heard back from the service tech yet this morning (said he would call today). Hopefully, I don't have as much trouble getting this resolved as other people have. Will pass along updates as I get them.

P.S. I'm already tired of driving my fiance's '98 Ford Contour, and I've only driven it once this morning. Geez, that thing rides like a brick with concrete wheels compared to my truck!!

Murphy's Law strikes again. The service tech found no problem with my truck. It just so happens there was a Ford representative there yesterday. He and the service manager went driving around in my truck and also said there's no problem. So, that's three people there that say nothing's wrong. Guess I'm screwed unless the problem gets worse so they can actually feel it.

Well i called the dealer to find out whats taking so long to get the gears replaced (truck has been there a week already) and i was told that the mechanic took the rear end apart (today) then went to get the ring and pinion from parts instead of getting the parts first then taking the truck apart and guess what they had to order it and it's on back order so now my truck is sitting on the lift with no gears and im out a truck until they get them in! They have no clue on when they are coming in either!

My truck has the driveline vibration between 45 & 65 mph after 65mph the steering wheel has the nibble problem. Ford’s factory rep would not do anything about the driveline vibration; he claims that it’s normal. So I took my case to the DSB hearing last week & got a letter from the board today. They want an independent party to inspect the truck and report the findings to them. After that I will have another opportunity to present my case before the DSB with the independent review of my truck. All my friends can feel the vibration and for $30,000 it should not vibrate. One fiend wanted a Ford but he got an ugly Avalanche because of my problems. After 10 months the fight goes on…………

Now that's what really ticks me off!! My '04 is the fifth F-150 that I have owned, and it is the only one that has had any sort of vibration in it. That is most definitely NOT normal. Plus, I'm sure there are plenty of other '04s on the lots that can be taken for a test drive and don't have a vibration. That Ford rep is full of crap!

DSB

Hopefully the DSB will look at all the facts and take care of it...

The FSE told my dealer before he even looked at it is that the nibble is a characteristic of the truck...

Nada, not all of them do it. He's wrong, and if it is a characteristic, then my lawyer says then it can be in the 2005 brochure... A paragraph about nibble...

Also, there would not be a TSB for the earlier builds and an updated steering gear... Too bad it didn't fix the problem...

Pretty much "CHARACTERISTIC" = "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ******* IS WRONG."

FORD FIX THE DAMN TRUCKS... MAYBE THE ENG. SHOULD GO TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND FEEL A TRUCK THAT DOESNT VIBRATE OR YANK THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY HAND>>>>

BY THIS ORDEAL, FORD WILL LOSE A CUSTOMER OR GAIN ONE FOR LIFE>>>>

I've driven my '04 STX for 11,500 miles now and on a return trip from Houston Texas I noticed a slight vibration, most noticeable in the steering wheel.

When I got home I had the tires rotated and the vibration went away.

Waiting on a new drive shaft from Ford. The new drive shaft was recommended by a Ford engineer that worked on my truck. I believe it's a newly designed drive shaft that is suppose to address the vibration issue; however I'm not 100% sure about whether its newly designed and what has been changed. Sombody closer to the situation may be able to verify if the drive shaft has be redesigned or not.

Between 55 and 60 mph when my truck shifts into overdrive I get the bedshake. You can feel the truck shaking a little but there is no vibe in the wheel, pedals, cupholder with change in it, or ringing from the socket set I carr. It only does this when shifting into OD. If you go up to 65 and let it come back down it won't continously shake. If I set the cruise between 55 and 60 it levels off eventually. Is this the vibe or can it devlop into the vibe and what can/should I do about it if anything?

any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Jansen

This problem sounds like 3 different problems:

1) You have a front end steering wheel shake or
2) You have a bad rear end or
3) you have a bad driveshaft

Those with a rear end vibration that was fixed with a new rear: What did the vibration feel like exactly? When did it happen? Accelerating, deaccelerating? Only on corners? Is it more of a shake or is it like a jackhammer vibration? etc...

I think mine is fixed. Took out on the highway and no more vibe. New gears with all new bearings did the trick for me! And a new rim since the guy that cleans the floor decided to run into one of my tires while it was leaning against the lift and scratched the rim.

Had mine in last Friday for the dampner kit. That did absolutely nothing and may have made the vibe worse. Called back that afternoon and was told to bring it back in the morning for the shop foreman to look at.

I rode with him on the road test this morning and right away the guy noticed the vibe in the truck and the steering wheel. Left the truck there for the day and left with a dealer supplied rental.

The guy told me this was a widespread problem that was still under investigation by ford. Also, he showed me the actual TSB for the dampner. At the very bottom in big bold letters it says it will NOT solve steering wheel nibble. Hmmmm. Thought that was odd. Why the heck did they keep my truck all day to put that big weight on then? Oh well, I'll report back when I get the truck back.

He also said this was a puch more pronounced problem with the 8ft bed F150s. (mine is a lariat scab w/ the 6ft bed).
