Who is in the 100,000 mile club?
118K on my '98 4.6L 4x4, 5spd manual XLT!
It has been turning 33x12.5 Goodyears the whole time. The only mods are Flowmaster exhaust and homemade FIPK. It sounds real mean.
The only problem so far has been the CEL that comes on when the wife drives it, but I think I fixed that with recent MAS, Throttle Body, and EGR cleanings.
I would say it will be good for another 100K, easy! I'm always impressed with the quality of these trucks.

I'll go over 109,00 miles tomorrow and other than the couple problems I've posted, which I consider to be minor, I haven't had a reason to complain. I was a chevy guy from way back and only bought the truck because the price was right and it already had all the extras. I'll be the first to tell you, it will take one hell of a deal to get me to part with it. It still idles around 650 rpm and cruises at 1550 at 55mph. I've ranged anywhere from 12.2 to 16.8 mpg. One terrific truck. I love it.

Holy crow, that is a lot of milage out there. My father had a 1980 F-100 bare bones w/ 300 ci inline 6 and a 4 speed. He drove that truck all over the AZ desert and even pulled out Chevy 4x4's out of the mud, and the Ford was a 2 wheel drive! I believe that he had the head rebuilt at 180,000+, but I am not positive. Other than that, just a water pump and a clutch.
As for me, I had a '91 Exploder, I mean, Explorer that got about 145,000 before the tranny went south. Had it rebuilt, but traded it in for a Wrangler. Traded the Wrangler for a '01 F-150 4.2L in Feb/01 and put about 54,000 on it before I traded it in for the Mazda my wife has now (shame of shames...).
The good news is, I traded my wife's Escort for my father's '97 F-150 4.6L 4x4 extended cab. I like to think that I saved the truck, since the old man only did oil changes. He neglected the paint, and the spark plugs were worn to a nub. I upgraded the plugs and wires, added a K&N filter, and am trying to get the Superchip in there as soon as I get time to mess with the computer. The truck has 148,000+ on it, and although the dealership forgot to put the tranny mount bolts in when they did some work on the transfer case (4 plus years ago, just discovered and fixed that 2 months ago), this thing will keep on kicking for at least another 100K, I hope...

Just purchased a '97 F 150 XLT SC 4.6. It has 196,800 and runs
and drives like new. Owned by an older man who maintained
it perfectly and stayed on the highway. I gave $5K and am
tickled to get it.
It replaces my '90 Lariat with 176,000,runs good but was
abused and not quite as nice.
Sold my '89 Ranger w/ 175,000 2-3 years ago and it is still
being used today.
My friend has a '92 Explorer with almost 300K and drives
it everywhere.

My 92 F-150 only got to 372,980 miles before I replaced the engine. Only minor maintanence performed and a lot of oil changes. The transmission is another matter. Its been a total POS. I had to have rebuilt at 360k.
It still ran well, just noisy and poor milage. I popped in a 6k mile H.O. engine a couple of months ago. Now the truck has 382k on it and I hope to see at least 600k total.

I have a 97 4x4 sitting at 161,000+. As we speak I'm giving it a good tune up. Couple days ago I changed the O2 sensors. That really sucked, but I wasn't paying $41 a sensor. I tell you what, these last two plugs and plug wires are killing me. Not to mention the fuel filter isn't much fun either. I guess it's all part of owning and actually taking care of your truck on a budget. Well worth it if you ask me.

Am proud to say that my uncle has an 86 with 386k and it still drives better than most newer trucks out there. It was a farm truck pulled 3 or 4 peanut trailers at the time through fields and up and down hills. Orginal tranny still. Only thing was the a/c went out.
