100k club, I'm at 160k

160k on my 97 F250LD 4x4 with 5.4. Runs great. Nothing other than std maint. Only bad part is that I'm sure it will go to 200k and that brings with it another 6hrs of me cursing at it while doing the spark plugs...

Anyone replaced the 5.4 or 4.6 themselves? Does it come out through the hood? (Doesnt look like enough room...)

Well I did a tally.
So far we total 3,808,636 miles on 29 vehicles.
Not too shabby.
The 97 and laters have 24 vehicles over 100,000 miles and 26 posts for a total of 2,931,636 miles.
We have a long way to go to catch up with the pre 97 Ford trucks with 3 posts at 877,000 miles.
Then theres mscott with his 81 f100 with 550,000 miles.
All told, thats a lot of miles

At the present time I'm at 139,000 miles. Only
problem so far was the rear wheel bearings at 90,000. I make about 16 round trips (300 miles one way) to northern Minn. every year. Most of them pulling a trailer full of bear bait plus the box usually has about 1000lbs of bait too. And than usually a load of firewood on the way home. So there's probably a reason for the bearings to go.
I've gotten as high as 17 mpg with a load of firewood on, as long I stay under 70 mph. The only
I've done is a shift kit and synthetic fluids everywhere. Going to make it to 200,000 no problem. My 1990 F150 has 208,000 and is still running great.

Just wanted to add my 98 to this list. The truck now has 111000 miles on it. Still going strong. So far the biggest repair has been ball joints, which were shot by 70K. Other than that, everything else has just been regular maintenance items, shocks, tires (got over 75K out of a set of Michelin LTX AT's), filters and plugs. My truck pings like a SOB. And the dealer replaced one door because of a cracking door skin. 2 years later the replacment door is now cracking. Oh well.

Let's keep this thread going. I'm sure there's alot more of us out there. So far only one in the 200K plus club.

oops, disregard my comment about there being only 1 over 200K. I missed the extra pages.

I think my brain has too many miles on it, something's failing!!

You can count me in as well. I have a 98 Scab Short bed with about 136,000 miles.
Just regular maintainence and service, new tires at about 81,000 miles (Firestone Wilderness II). I drive about 600 miles a week just to go to work. I love the truck but just can't stand seeing the crack in the driver's door. If I had to do it again, I would probably have gotten a 5.4 instead of the 4.6. I can sure use the extra oomphh!!!!

100,000 mile club

I have 100,100 miles on my 1997 F150 supercab 4.2L V6. Had no problems until I hit 70,000 miles and replaced the timing chain cover gasket. From this point on, I felt the idle was lower than it should have been, but the truck ran well.

Now at 100,100 miles I noticed a loss of coolant without any external drips/evidence. Noticed the oil was emulsified under the fill cap. I assume it is due to the ongoing problems with the 1997 4.2L V6 manifold / timing cover gaskets.

Bringing into the shop tomorrow to be checked out.

114,000 miles. So far - new starter at 40k miles. New coil packs around 70k miles (with about 6k miles between them). New alternator around 70k miles. New battery at 75k miles. New plugs & wires @ 90k miles. New power drivers side power mirror @ 42k miles. Sqeaky ball joints at 40k miles....fixed with a needle adapter for my grease gun.

Overall I'd say I don't have too much to complain about other than the local Ford dealers suck when it comes to service & public relations.

I'm planning on taking this truck to at least 160,000 miles and hope that it'll last at least another 40k after that.

Oh and I forgot, my '86 Harley had 70,000 on it before it was taken apart and would've lasted longer. I had to replace a leaking head gasket and said what the heck....while I'm in there I may as well have it bored 30 over and throw some new pistons in it.

Oh let me tell you! I have 162,434 Km on my truck...(just over 100,000 miles) and my truck runs like brand new! I've never even changed the spark plugs on it! I've had it since 97, and it's given me great serivce...It was never even rebuilt...I boght it from a guy with a wrecked lightning...It's great! Built Ford tough! It's never given me a problem! I'm pretty sure it's the original wires on the engine too! It's amazing! Every once and while, Ford puts out a truck that is SO well built, it's almost invincible...I got one of those trucks...it's amazing!

I think my father's 97 is eligible, with 175,000 mi. on his 4.6.

I only have 16,000 mi. on mine! Oh well, maybe in a couple years.
