1997 F-150 4.6L king cab step side Lariat.

I am just now turning 109,000 miles. It is pinging a little, but otherwise it still has excellent power and the drivetrain is tight. Doesn't use a drop of oil (and I still run 5w30 Valvoline full synthetic oil). Only problem so far has been a rear diff. seal at 87,000 miles. I am hoping to get at least 150,000 miles out of it. From all current indications it looks like I will. This is the first Ford and first truck I have ever owned and I don't think I will ever buy anything but a Ford truck again.

I'm at almost 105,000. I love the truck, runs great, and is very comfotable to drive. I have had a few minor glitches along the way, nothing too bad tough. The worst was the tank of bad gas I got, which took me a few weeks to determine it was the gas, and nothing else.
Glad to see lots of Fords over 100k, this is my third one, (previous Fords--an '87 f-150 w/ over 150k, an '89 with 212k, and did not burn oil. ) Very nice.

My previous truck was 95 with the 302 still running excellent (my brother bought it from me) he just turned 184k. Gotta love those fords. Did I mention that neither vehicle has had any major work done on them!!!!!!!!

april 25, 108k still going strong.
It is nice to see all of you enjoying these trucks, sure makes me happy to take part in owning the finest line of vehicles!

Make that 132k!

I have a 98 flairside extended cab with 102K on the clock, runs like new. It doesn't burn any oil or leak. I have been useing mobil1 0w30 & 5w30 and motorcraft oil filters since new. I think 200K will be no problem.

See you guys at the 200K club.

Well I gues I'll be a multiple entrant into theis here club. My first truck (85 F-150) had 186,000 miles on the clock when the odometer stopped working, we think it's around 210,000 and my mom still drives it. The only major work done ot it was brakes and a new clutch after I learned how to drive . It had the original battery 1 month shy of 10 years before we just tossed it.

My current truck, 97 F-150 Reg Cab Long Bed 4.6 has 91,000 miles on it and is goin' strong. No major work (knock on wood) has been done on it. I had the plugs changed ~80,000miles or so, and the trans fluid flushed (WAHT A DIFFERENCE THAT MADE!!!), reg oil changes (synthetic now), and that's it. I had a SES light come on, but it was due to bad/worn out plugs & wires. Aside from a few scratches,a bed liner, and a few pounds of dirt she's the same way as when she left the factory! I fully expect to hit 100Kwith no problems. BTW it'll smoke a stock rice burner.

A friend of mine has a 99 F150 with the 4.6 and he has 92,000 miles.
Mine has 100 miles right now, but I hope that one day I can be part of the 100K miles club.
I hate when people tell me that Ford's don't last long, and all that comes out of their mouth is Toyota this Honda that.

Thumbs up 143,000

New to the board. I have 143,000 on my 97 f150 Lariat, 4.6L Windsor, supercab. Only real problem I had was the one that I posted about my engine "surge". I love my truck!! This is the second F150 I've owned. My 1st was an 88 F150 4x4 302, 5spd, reg cab, 8 ft bed, used to haul around horses. Had 136,000 on it until the tranny blew apart about 100 miles away from home. Love my 97 even better.

'98 F-150 XLT ORP 4.6L regular cab Flareside. Just rolled over the 100k mark. Driver's power window, and cruise control no longer function (which I consider minor as I almost never used them anyway). Other than that, brakes, fluids and a replacement battery are all that were done to it.

Previos Ford was a '78 F-250 regular cab long bed 351M. The thing had 661,000 (yes, you read it right) miles on it. Engine knocked to beat hell and I could see the road between my feet. Other than that, tune ups, fluids, battery and water pump were all that were replaced. Not to mention that that truck plowed a LOT of snow and dragged a lot of people out of the ditch.

People who say Fords are POSes are blowing smoke out their exhaust.

Oh, a little aside. I've yet to have a brand-C truck that went more than 70k before going wheels-up. One had about 100 miles on it when the (supposedly) heavy-duty tranny (manual) blew plowing 4 inches of snow. That was just before the '78 F-250 was ordered.

two in the club

I've got two f150s in the club. My 85 f150 4.9 liter bare bones stripper including a 4 speed on the floor. It still runs like a beast but is getting tired at a hard 189,000. Its 4x2 so it's buried for the winter.

Then there is my everyday truck is at 99,500 and turning fast. It's a 93 f150 Supercab XLT, 351 Windsor "H" engine, auto trans 4x4, tow package with Ford's rescue/ambulance setup. It's pretty much stock with the exception of the auto hubs. They were replaced with manual "lock-out" free running hubs by the previous owner, likely because of the price and durability.

Nothing major on the truck has broken, just some small stuff and basic wear. Suspension and brakes are new, and the D/S window motor. It's got a slight rocker tap in the cold when I run 5w30 but that's it.

THE BEST NEVER REST

Thumbs up

I have a 97 xl 4.2L scab work truck. It has 94,400 miles on it and runs as good as new. Starts first crank, uses no fluids. (not even antifreeze, knocking on a whole tree) It is a plain jane but I love the truck. have done nothing but change fluids and tires. other than small dent on drivers side of the bed it still looks good too. this is my 3rd ford truck. I had a 98 xl that was a work truck that my boss bought from me for the company, it has 122,000 on it and they still use it every day. My first ford was a 1977 f100 lariat. it was my grandfathers truck, he bought it new and i bought it in high school. It was fun to drive 460 4bl c6 auto. the only thing we ever replaced was the shocks, tires, brakes, and fluids. was running strong at 275,000 when my cousin borrowed it and rearended a dump truck with it. needless to say it was totalled and i was pissed.

fords rock

My dad's 93 Explorer Sport with a V6 has 230,000 miles on it and it looks and runs as good as the day he got it. he has not done any work to it except change the oil every 3,000 miles and replaced the parts that were out like brakes ball joints ect. but it was getting old so he just went out and got a 02 F-150 super crew lariat 5.4.

106.+ on my 97 F150 xlt. Only minor problems most
were solved by reading this Forum..Replaced wires, plugs & coil
packs @ 97. This is only the second Ford truck i've owned,
The first one a 79 great truck. Almost forgot, my truck is powered
with the 4.6 w/3.55 rear and tow package. I pull a 6500# camper
and i have no problems at all. (Kentucky hills}
