Thanks HarleyGuy! I would LOVe to respond to that but to do so would simply make me equally immature.
I love my truck & can't see me ever going back to a car unless it were a muscle car with a big block - say a '69 Mach 1 w/428 CJ motor! As a former(?) street racer for many years that was 1 AWESOME motor! I still have a problem with my foot being a bit heavier than the law allows but I'm careful to pick & choose where I exceed the speed limit! LOL! So far, so good!
Well, I'm glad YOU like women driving trucks! You have always shown excepional intelligence & good taste!

Cool

Personally, I LOVE ladies driving pickups!

Me too...

Cowlady,
I'm on Oahu, and along with about 100,000 other people, my living room, bedroom and bathroom windows look over Pearl Harbor and your father's ship. Great sunsets from the hills above Pearl Harbor where I hike with my Rott.

I like your comment...no snow, no salt...well you're right about the snow, but being stuck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean we have PLENTY of salt, mostly in the air.

I'd like to add that I've had no problems with either of my trucks, and I even got brand new tires on my Ranger after 15K miles. Thanks Firestone...

Thanks for the info FO. I'm with you, I really like Ford trucks. My next will be an F-350 PSD...can't wait to place my order in the next few months.

yeah funny you say that about the trucks catching fire! the place my brother works for just bought a new fleet of silverados for work trucks and they had one with less than 50 miles on it burn to the ground just sitting in the parking lot! the truck was being sent back to gm for examination!

oh yeah and i almost forgot. a friend of mine at work and her husband bought a 2000 silverado and the tranny literally broke in the first week they had it! couldnt even drive it back to the dealer. it sat in their driveway for a week before they came and got it. what a dissapointment. drop 26,000 on a new vehicle and it has to have major work done on it immedieatly.

all vehicles have inherent problems no matter what it is. i used to have a ranger and frequented the ranger.com site alot. major concerns were lackluster power from the 3.0, the dieseling sound from the 4.0 and dome light staying on (internal switch in door panels)

and oh yeah i just remembered. lol! popular mechanics (the magazine) had a 2000 silverado they were testing for a long term test. well it didnt last too long till the engine blew up! lol. it had 8,000 miles it it and the 5.3liter. actually it was a broken rocker arm or something like that. how ironic huh? i think that that magazine is biased towards gms and against fords anyways cause they kinda downplayed the incident and are always braggin up gms and putting down fords. where there you go scott oldham(senior editor for p.m.) a little something to chew on lol

I love GUYS who love WOMEN who drive PICKUPS!! Thanks guys for living in the 21st. Century & not the dark ages! LOL!
Gah - if you EVER get the time, could you get some sunset pics for me with the Mighty Mo in them? I wasn't able to get them & I think it would look awesome! I'll pay for any film or postage if you wouldn't mind being the photographer! Mahalo! I plan on coming back there maybe next summer - if I do Ill let you know. Maybe I can see the trucks! You're right - I did forget about the salt in the air! LOL! Well, I hope it's not too destructive - all the vehicles I saw there looked to be in very good condition. Hey - I may have seen you drive by & never knew it! Were YOU the one hanging out in front of the Outrigger East every day? ROFL!
ATST - good one! But don't rush to do that because there are plenty of INTELLIGENT MEN here who appreciate us! Once again, thanks guys!

Cool

Cowlady,
No problem. I haven't been down to see the Mighty Mo yet and it's been here for almost three years I think. You've given me a good incentive to take a closer look. It looks big from two miles away; I can only imagine what it looks like close up. I'll go down this weekend and get back to you when I have some pictures.

I guess I should say something about Fords...did I mention, I love my trucks!
One of my good friends has an F-550 CC PSD (Cab and chassis) coming in on Jan 29th. I'm looking forward to the vicarious pleasure it will bring. The truck comes with a Dana 4:88 rear end.... he owns a towing business so I guess he needs it. He has mostly Fords but also has some Chevy’s in his fleet and they've ALL been reliable, and he REALLY makes them work.

Gee, are we having fun yet, or what? Didn't know I would start a minor war by quoting a few simple facts.

Hmmmm, where to start.

Regulator, thanks for the kudos. My Explorer does ramp 1000 with the front IFS even (somewhat modified). All the modifications on it, and all vehicles I have owned have been done at home. In the Explorers case, me and my X built it. I built the 91 Mustang GT that I recently sold. The 94 Lightning was bought new by me (after I talked the X into it), and is still my daily driver. 115,000 miles and going strong.

Dondo, goodness..... what can be said to you?
I will not lower myself to insults. I only have one statement to make. The mentally challanged should not own computers. j/k
You are allowed to have your opinion, no matter how backward it may be. Guess what..... I even turn wrenches, do all my own maint., and work on customers vehicles too. My goodness, what is the world coming to. ps: I can cook and clean also, and my middle name is not Bertha.

To others, the point here was to show a simple sampling of problems the other manufacturers have. It would have been nice to go to their websites to hear it first hand, but...... with the exception of Ford, none of the other manufacturers have a website worth a darn. Guess the owners of their vehicles do not think it is worth their time (or they are too busy fixing their vehicles). Most of my knowledge of vehicles is practical, since I am partners in an Auto Repair and Towing business. This does not mean that I sit in the office and look pretty, it means I work. The NHTSA site just helped to back-up the observations I had already made.

Do Fords break down...... of course they do. Do other brands break down more...... they certainly do in my, and many magazines opinions. Do foreign vehicles break down...... you betcha! And they make my shop alot of money.

ps - can't wait for the '01 Lightning to get here. Build date is supposed to be 2/19.

Ok, I'll bite. I went back and tried to figure out where you got your numbers. Needless to say, I couldn't. Therefore, I will be a bit more specific.

This is the exact listings as they appear at NHTSA. Since the numbers I had listed before were only comparing 1/2 ton trucks, I will do the same here. It would appear that I had been a bit simplistic before. Therefore I appologize for my error. The GM heavy duty line is new for '01 and there is no data.

Complaints for 1999:
Ford:
F150: 350
Total for Ford: 350

GM:
Chevy:
1500: 25
C1500: 22
K10: 1
K1500: 15
Silverado: 511
GMC:
C1500: 3
K1500: 3
Sierra: 160
Total for GM: 740

Complaints for 2000:
Ford:
F150: 79
Total for Ford: 79
GM:
Chevy:
1500: 15
C15: 4
C1500: 13
K10: 1
K1500: 3
Silverado: 210
GMC:
C1500: 2
K1500: 1
Sierra: 87
Total for GM: 336

I did not include Chrysler, since the way that most people listed their complaints, you could not tell if they were all 1/2 ton. They were just listed as "Ram".

As you can tell, I have way too much time on my hands today. I am home sick.

So, hope this cleared up any confusion.

I think Dondo was just showing us that anyone can state their opinion. I'm not sure if he really thinks that.

But if he really does, then here is MY opinion:
The two things I look at on a guy is his @ss, and his Ford Truck! Both must be in nice shape regardless of model year!
