My fiance got lucky 4 years ago when she
was offered a job making $140,000 a year. We could've bought almost any vehicle we wanted, when we decided to get a truck, neither of us even considered another brand. The door crack is the only unforseen or unexpected problem we've had. The paint is in spectacular shape, hasn't lost it's shine, and the engine has never failed to start and run, ever. The only major complaint I would have is the seat comfort,my 74 Comet had more comfortable seats,,lol. The adjustable lumbar helps some, but
I have to grab hold of the center armrest to keep upright in the seat while taking curves. I am planning to buy a leather aftermarket seat soon, that should take care of it. All in all,I love this truck and glad we bought it ,,,,,98

[b] To: 94LightningGal - EXCELLENT work! where were you when I was in college & needed help with my research? LOL
MarkS - glad we're still friends! Best of luck getting the truck fixed the way you want it fixed!
ragarm - I love your idea! Cowpies are good for fuel you know - they at least have SOME redeeming quality!
I just think that Chevy fans might get better results putting us down if they did it on THEIR own board! Here - well too many of us still love our vehicles, flaws & all.

I like my 97 F150 and think that it is a good truck and I think it is wrong to say the new GM trucks are having alot of problems. I know three people my dad being one that have the new GM truck and they have been trouble free.I don't think that one can really say the Ford is better than Chevy or vice versa. As far as Ford selling the most trucks for what 19 years, well that probably can be disputed because they separate the Chevy and GMC trucks if you combine the two the sales are more than Ford. These are identical trucks. So really the GM trucks are the most popular. Don't get me wrong Iam not looking to buy one but that's just my opinion I could be wrong.

Cowlady,
you seem a bit touchy. Why is it when your fellow board members slam chevy or the other makes, its fine, but when a non ford owner comes here and slams ford, you get all bent out of shape. Ford is not the ultimate truck you make it out to be. It has its share of problems just like every other brand. I come to this board to learn about ford trucks, not hear a bunch of BS about how they are the best truck ever made because they are not. Why don't you read all of the posts on this board and you will realize how many problems ford also has.

To wtd - I am not 'bent out of shape" about this. If someone prefers a Chevy/GMC that is fine. I prefer Ford's. I am not saying they are the best truck for anyone but me.
I do NOT go to thier sites - Chevy/GMC/Dodge/Toyots/Nissan sites & slam them for being unfortunate for buying the truck of their choice. Nor do I want them coming here to "rub our noses" in it for NOT having the truck of THEIR choice.
I too come here to learn about my truck & to exchange ideas & friendship with fellow F150 owners. All this flaming by people with OTHER trucks is getting a bit old. Quite frankly, they should show a bit more maturity & go flame Ford's on their own sites where SOMEONE may appreciate it. If you choose to think I am "bent out of shape" for wasting space with their put downs that is entirely your right to feel that way. I would just prefer to see the board devoted to tips, info & fun.

FoMoCo favorite fix is "that's normal"</font>
Dondo, it is quite obvious that you did not read the complaints from the GM truck owners on the NHTSA board. If you had, you would have noticed another very common thread to their comments........ "Truck has been back to Chevy (?) times, they cannot find the problem........., or say it is normal." Does this sound familiar?

The point is, you have friends who have been lucky. Just as they are, and you are lucky to have had a good dealer service experience with GM. When it comes to dealers, and service, it is a pot shot. It doesn't matter what make it is. Geez, look at the Tundra complaints....... they sell 1/10th the trucks that Ford does, and they even have 48 complaints.

Believe me, when I bring up GM quality, I am not just spouting out about a rival brand. My neighbor was a GM truck engineer at the GM proving grounds in AZ for 20+ years. The engineers begged GM not to introduce the new truck lines till the MAJOR problems could be worked out. GM choose to ignore their pleas. These problems included: bending rear axles under load, braking problems, and steering gearboxes that wanted to torque themselves off of the C-channel frame. Believe me, those problems are out their too. Needless to say, David said he would never buy another new GM truck.

Anyway, sorry to ramble again. I have had good Ford dealer service, and bad. I did not take the bad experiences to mean that FMC is bad..... just that dealer. The bottom line, I didn't go back to that dealer. Period.

Good luck to all on their service issues. If you do not get the service you deserve at the dealer you are going to...... go to another. There are plenty of good ones out there too.

Oh, and no, I do not work for Ford. I am partners in an independent Auto Repair and Towing business.

Cowlady,
I wouldn't let wtd get to you. You make a good point that he/she obviously missed as attested to by the comment

Why is it when your fellow board members slam Chevy or the other makes, its fine, but when a non ford owner comes here and slams ford, you get all bent out of shape

You made the point that YOU don't go to other boards and criticize their choices, but it was obviously lost on this reader.

Personally, I like all trucks, and believe that most of the negativity comes from "children" still in junior high, because I don't know of any adults that waist their energy criticizing others for the choices they make. If you notice, the ones with the biggest mouths almost always leave the occupation field blank in their personal profile. I guess junior high school student would give much too much away.

As I've said before, I hope that at some point ALL truck manufacturers produce outstanding, reliable vehicles. If that happens, WE are the winners. My final point is that selling the most vehicles can be a curse rather than a blessing. We should all guard against complacency.

Question

I forgot to ask my question in all the excitement.

Ford Outfitter, what do the percentages represent in your post?

wtd, you're wrong about the number of people with problems on this board. There are over 8,000 registered members on this board and only a tiny handful of the members are having problems.

I think you are all missing the point.

I'm just impressed with the Fact that 94lightningal drives an older lightning and has a 4x4 that RTI 1000 ( heck just the fact that she knows what RTI is impresses me.)
It's nice to hear from some female members that know about their trucks.

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to make the point that this board is not the place to trash Ford's or brag up other makes. It's a Ford site. To come here & talk about other makes is like going to the website for the Dallas Cowboys & discussing the New York Jets! It's just not appropriate.
Hey gah - where in hawaii are you? I was on Oahu this past September. I went to see the battleship my Dad served on - the USS Missouri. Have you seen it? It's AWESOME!! I iwsh I lived there - no salt or snow would REALLY be paradise!

CORRECT. I did not visit the website. I was just spouting my opinion, which is what 99.9% of the post's on this and every other message board consist of. (terrible grammar I know). My opinion is that Ford Trucks from 1997 onwards lack in quality and are hastily built. So What ? Your opinion is that Ford trucks are great based on a NHTA website and consumer reports. So What ? My opinion is that women have no business driving Pick ups..So What...

I've got no problems with this website or anyone on it. It's a great learning tool and a opinion forum to be taken with some salt

I do have MANY problems with FoMoCo !

Looks as if we might have someone trying to stir the pot a bit? Well, now we can quit listening to this guy. He has most certainly shown his immature colors.

Personally, I LOVE ladies driving pickups!

The percent is year to date. It means if sales improved or declined for the year. As you can see they are all doing decent. Looks like Ford will hold the title for another year. As long as they don't get complacent they should continue to lead from the front.
Haven't seen the Dec numbers or final total. I will post it when I can. Again love American trucks just a Ford fan!!
