Its actually a great story so here goes.

I was about to buy a complete setup from a donor f350, which would include the wiring harness, ecu, ac and all of the motor and harness for 3500. This motor had 55k on it, and had been in a wreck in the rear end.

I went and drove the truck and it felt good and all, but i just didn't feel right about the decision. I gave it a day even though it was a 50 mile drive. I went to go back to look at it the next day, and it started pouring ran, and locked up the 405 in north L.A.

I went back home, and skipped that day. I figured i'd go back the next day since it was the weekend. So sunday, i went up there, and it started snowing in southern CA.......Wierd.

Anyways, i figured i didn't want to spend that cash up front for a motor that had 55k on it already, so i went home. When i got home, i looked at craigslist, and there it was

A 99 V10, with everything but the parts for cylinder 9. This was because it threw the rod, and chewed up the journals on the crank. It smacked up the walls a bit , but was pretty low in the cylinder wall. The intake manifold was there, wiring harness, and all the old parts. oh yeah for only 250......

had to buy it..

I took it to a local shop that i haven't tried before, but they seemed nice, and had the equiptment.

It got bored over 30 and got a new crank. All stock other than oversized pistons. I had the heads rebuilt while i was in there, and all new lifters. Its got all new cam gears, timing chains and just about everything new you can throw at it.

That being said, just about everything in the motor is stock right down to the new head bolts.

2400 for the machine work, and alll the parts
250
case of beer to build with
2700+ some parts here and there. SMALL STUFF IS EXPENSIVE...e-fans- wiring- tools......it adds up.

took me a weekend to have it built and in

Dude that's awesome!! Did he have to redo the front suspension for the extra weight? I would love to have a 7.3 F-150

to answer the questions:

the suspension is already redone, it's a fully custom air suspension.

and yes, the back is airbrushed to look like that. i think it's stupid to paint rust onto ur vehicle but it does look pretty badass

yea it's different for sure. and tail lights? that thing hasn't seen road in years. trailer'd to every show it goes to. but last i saw him driving it, they were in the rear window.

it's a good looking ride for sure, but it's nowhere near done.. the ragtop and the three layers of 5% tint are to keep you from seeing that the interior is 2 seats, a steering wheel with gauges and a dash shell haha. it's badass still

Just in se anyone is looking to do this swap down the line, I wanted to make sure that I posted my info on here. Also, I will always be checking back up on this thread just to help out anyone looking for info. I'm currently working on rebuilding an RV right now, but time permitting, I will be putting some more info together on this thread......along with a roots style supercharger!!!

PM me

Just an update,

I had basically a cat back exahust built onto the stock exhaust. I steped up to a 3 inch pipe. I've been running it this way for a while, and it sounds great with the 40 series muffler. Quiet, but still agressive. I do think that the 2.5 in stock down pipes along with the 5.4 cats and resonators really reduce the power, and sound of this thing. I will be bending some pipe to replace the y section. Havent yet decied on whether i will seperate it into duals or just keep the y, but I will be removing the resonators and cats, and maybe......maybe replacing the cats with hi flow.......or just straight pipe (:

I am however looking into suspension lifts. What is everyones oppinions here. I am thinking about doing a super duty swap with solids, but I don't want an insane lift of like 17 inches. I want the solid axle up front, with the larger towing capacity of the super duty, but with only 6 -7 inches of lift. Still driveable, without being a huge annoyance.

let me know what you think.....or might have

John
