Troyer sells 16 inch fans for $124.00 + S & H. Any truck specific kit will cost more. Troyer's kit is $425.00. The Flex-a-lite kit is $550.00.

Scrap yard Mark VIII fans are about $100.00 or so. Add a $40.00 controller. The Taurus e-fan is another option. Fans are not a cheap option in kit form but they will free up about 15 hp from the engine. That should translate to an MPG increase. Might pay for itself if you drive a lot of miles. I do not have any measured difference on my truck as I didn't care about MPG when I installed mine. So far with mine I have had to replace one controller and a few relays.
Thanks for the info JMC, answers it for me, no efans !!

Jbrew,

If you ever get to a dyno bring your fan removal tools. Do one of the runs with the fan and its clutch removed. That will give you an approximate idea of the power it robs.

That's a good Idea, - Comes off easy enough. I'm taking the fan tool kit I have now back auto zone , - they must have gave me the wrong one. The wrench doesn't fit the nut. I didn't need the wrench anyway, but I want the right kit. Pretty cool deal tho. They gave me 90 days before they charge my credit card. If I take it back before then - No Charge.

At idle it sounds like it robs allot of power. So far I haven't heard it while driving.

Man, I'm running low on cash now. I was hoping to tune it. Might have to wait a bit. Get some e-fans and tune it the next time.

Not sure how much to budget for fans or wether or not to UD pulleys at the same time? UDP's couldn't hurt I guess.

Have to budget about $500 for tuning, - maybe a little more for custom. I think it's $400 + $30 per custom tune, -IF your order custom at the time of purchase. If not it's more.

Found my computer code on the PCM - Re-flashed 09/2000.

Go to livernois jbrew. 400 bucks you get an Xcal 2 programmer 3 custom tunes and an hour of dynotuning....well that was prices last year they might have gone up. ive been trying to save money but it just keeps dispearing... i think i still have the guys number if you want.

As far as E-fans go to the junkyard find a big lincon mark 8 fan like the one i got 30 bucks i think is the price....thing moves some mad amounts of air....my alt. hates when its on but it gets the job done and ive only turned it on about 5 times since ive had my temp gauge and that includes the end of summer so it normaly never gets near 200....never done a thermostat or coolant flush...this summer/ spring thoe.

my set up was only fan cost and a simple switch i dont trust those controllers heard to many bad things about them burning out fans not coming on...mines on a direct switch Batt/30amp fuse/switch/fan. all togther mine cost 30+a switch and some mountain dew for my buddy helping me wire it. You ever go to parts galore? or Ross towing? at ross towing its 30 bucks any fan set up in the yard. i forget parts galores prices on E-fans but there very cheap.

As for the power i noticed seat of the pants diff. also saw some better mileage out of it too.And now no annoying loud fan noise...untill i flip the switch thing was a PITA to get off bc i didnt go rent the tool from autozone lol.

Parts Galore is still in business!! Your post brings back memories lol. Use to race Motorcross and also into Harley's at one time. A Harley club called the Iron Mustangs owned the Track called Mustang Acres. Man was that fun back then. Anyway, we use to convoy to Parts Galore on Plymouth RD quite a bit. They use to sell Harley's, leathers and gear. Hard core gang into strong arming - Lots of fun tho - Made for some good stories around the Bon Fires.

Yea , I didn't know Livernois sells the Xcal 2. That's pretty cheap for custom tunes.

Yea, I always liked the Mark VIII set up

That's a good deal. I'm having front end problems. It's those Bilstein shocks, man am I sick of dealing with them. Steering wheel jerks back and forth doing about 45 mph. The shocks are just to short and I need new ones I guess

According to Bilstein , I have the right ones , but I never had problems before installing those.

I just stuffed in a new set urethane bushings because the old ones were shot already and now the new ones are tearing. Their not long enough that's all there is to it. I had plenty of big shock set ups in the past on other trucks - these just aren't right.

Yeah ill PM you there number they seem to know what there doing down there they mostly do mustangs from the looks of there site and the shop had alot of ponys. yeah the main dyno guy said 80 for 2 pulls *turned out to be 4 they ran my truck twice to make sure they knew what they were doin* and then 2 in front of me. Then i talked with one of the guys working the dyno and he said yeah bring it back for dynotuning when you get the money 400 bucks an hour on the dyno 3 tunes and the programmer....the Xcal 2's are normaly right around 350-400ish by them selfs *i think* let alone an hour on the dyno to tune it

Parts galore is on 96 and livernois somewere around there and then theres one way way down 8 mile in the D i forget the other road its on. i dont see any bikes there but lots n lots of 97 and down cars and trucks.me n my buddy are always making runs down there for somthing on his bronco.... i hate what they do to gas tanks thoe. to make it a fast drain they just blow a hole in the bottom of all of them. its fun going to junkyards and guessing what people did to make that happen to there cars lol

You know any junkyards or any place i could get a new gas tank for alot less than 350 bucks? *Autozone*

Parts Galore use to be on plymouth rd - Thinks that's livonia ? Use to a Murrays right next to it, but that was 20 years ago lol.

So did you just walk in to Livernoise or did you have to make an appointment?

Do you know of any bone yards that have F150's out back ? Use to be one here, not no more.

Those bone yards can find you a tank. I traded a tailgate for a new front end for a van once their. If you have something for trade, they'll deal with yuh.

Oh, I thought you've been to junk yards where they have totaled out trucks in the back. That's where I use to go until the place went into the recycle bizz.

U-know , you take your tools / unbolt a part from a truck out back and bring it up to the counter. Haven't you ever done that ? Well that's called a "bone yard" anyway. - Hard to find now.

BTW - I think we are thinking of two different Parts Galore's stores. One I'm thinking of dealt in Motorcycle parts lol.

Well screw these front shocks - I'm going to attempt once more to fix this,- I'm chucken em if that don't work and Bilstein can go to $%$@%$^$%!! Been messing with these things for almost 2 years, way to much time spent on a product that does not fit but supposably does. If you know what I mean

Anyway, I'm picken up some 2" extenders later today. That's the only size I can find. I'll crank up the T-bars if I have to and get it re- aligned. See what happens.

If that fails - off to Sears with a tape measure for some Monroe's, then write Bilstein a long a$$ letter. Freakin guys! They owe me some bushings and anger management classes!!!
