I broke the starter AGAIN
What the heck is this doing on page 2 of the forum. You stop working on it or something
.
How's things coming along.
You making your own liner skirts?
The brakes fine now?
Is the engine running yet?
Is your tune on its way?
Come on slacker, need details

I made a couple vids - start and exhaust sound, but they suck - not worth posting. All you hear is fan noise and exhaust is so quiet , - just not a big deal.
I didn't do any runs by the proving grounds yet , I post those.

Anyway's, that muffler gives it a nice little raspy/rumbling sound. really happy with it. At 30% off, it was still an $85.00 muffler. Install was a $20.00 tip to the tech and no charge. Good to have friends in the auto business.
Yea, I have a Flowmaster 40 & 50 series in the shop - They both sound awesome , but they also rob to much torque - Noticeably. I have a Magnaflow 2.5X4X22 Race Series, but I'm not crazy about the sound unless I'm Wide open, then it sounds killer. I installed a different Magnaflow this time - 2.5X8X20 and doesn't have much sound at all. I can't here it running at idle/ very faint rumble, but I have the bottom end torque back.
My favorite is the 50 series FM for sound. That 50 isn't the SUV series, it's the race series as well.
Back when I was running just my forward cats and that 50 / stock manifolds is when the truck sounded it's best. Sounded like those old GT Stangs when drivin normally.
Sounds good with the headers too, just not as good. I think that's because I'm not tuned for the headers yet.
I've got the truck back up on stands now - getting ready to check the 4wd and LS in the rear, heading out. - Might do a vid on that so I can see what's going on while I'm in the cab.

I bought the truck with that same setup, it did sound pretty awesome. Eventually I had the mid-section pipe where the muffler went, break through so I installed the Flowmaster.
I was definately turning the Cop's heads when driving by. To avoid the, ticket and put some back pressure in there, I put in the Flowmaster. I am happy with it.

I have had a Borla since the day I brought the truck home. Quite at idle but nice rumble when I press the skinny pedal.

- Taking off at 1/2 throttle she gets right up to speed effortlessly. Replaced quite few components, - Just sayin , the exhaust isn't the only reason it's running better, but it probably helped w/stock tune. I have a vid / uploaded to an online gallery twice and it still won't work. I'll try another program and post it in a few minutes. - Nothing special, you can hear the exhaust tho.
The new fan clutch is bugging me. Has a new fan as well/ a little different style. It's always running and it's freaking loud! That's different, - not liken it. You can hear that in the vid as well. - I'll post that in a minute here.

I'm not sure about actual hp/trq , I didn't dyno. I did two runs 0-80 at the same location - before and after the install. First run (before) was 19 seconds. Second run (after) was 13 seconds.
built54 has numbers from the dyno from lt install. He gained 30 hp and I think it was 35 ftlbs torque. He dyno'ed Shorties and LT's.
I could probably get close to those numbers if I custom tuned for them, -I might be there now , not sure without a dyno, but it's a noticeable difference even running the stock tune. Specially now. Feels like I have more usable power if you know what I'm saying. That low RPM torque.

Man, I'm running low on cash now. I was hoping to tune it. Might have to wait a bit. Get some e-fans and tune it the next time.
Not sure how much to budget for fans or wether or not to UD pulleys at the same time? UDP's couldn't hurt I guess.
Have to budget about $500 for tuning, - maybe a little more for custom. I think it's $400 + $30 per custom tune, -IF your order custom at the time of purchase. If not it's more.
Found my computer code on the PCM - Re-flashed 09/2000.

Yea , a few guys said that. Think JMC even said it was time

I have a bit more reading to do on custom tunes before I go that route. Again for me, does the cost justify itself. I put 8000 miles on it last year, mostly becasue of house remodeling trips for supplies and a few trips to Albany to visit my Son. That is alot of miles for me to drive in one year believe it or not.
You might want to find that thread someone posted about the E-fan build, pictures and everything. I believe he stated the cost, entire parts list, etc etc. It looked like a real nice setup when it was done. For my truck, the cost doesn't justify itself. I don't tow, and I am not looking for any gains that the E-fan build would give me. The re-flash was from the new Ford motor install in 2000, wasn't it.

Yea , I've seen those fan kits. I wouldn't mind a Mark VIII kit. There's been controller problems in the past with other after market set ups.

Summit Racing. Derale 16 inch fan #16516 $129.95 x2, Adjustable fan controllers #16759 $39.95 x2. You supply the mounting method and you are looking at $340.00 for e-fans. Troyer sells 16 inch fans for $124.00 + S & H. Any truck specific kit will cost more. Troyer's kit is $425.00. The Flex-a-lite kit is $550.00.
Scrap yard Mark VIII fans are about $100.00 or so. Add a $40.00 controller. The Taurus e-fan is another option. Fans are not a cheap option in kit form but they will free up about 15 hp from the engine. That should translate to an MPG increase. Might pay for itself if you drive a lot of miles. I do not have any measured difference on my truck as I didn't care about MPG when I installed mine. So far with mine I have had to replace one controller and a few relays.
