4.6 to 5.4 swap in progress
ahh now im having harness confusion! So the 5.4 harness does'nt have the ac sensor...

there isn't a plug on the 5.4 harness for this unit that is connected to nothing and seems like it does nothing? I have no idea what it is...

It doesnt have my horn wires that is supposed to be wired to the front passanger underbody.
and next the 5.4 harness has an extra plug that is tied together with the fog light plug together in wireloom, where does this go for the 5.4 setup?

It the one wire there is purple, that's where it goes (On both 4.6/5.4 models.) You should just two switches under the hood, - Pressure cut off and the others for cycling - Over by the accumulator. I'll see if I can find a diagram somewhere, but the cut off switch is the one by the port (For charging/discharging the system). Pretty close to your window p^ser tank.

This is what your looking at FRod - should help yuh a little -

1. - 19D594 A/C pressure cut-off switch
2. - 19E762 A/C charge valve port (high side)
3. - 19C836 Suction accumulator/drier
4. - 19E561 AC cycling switch
5. - 19E762 A/C charge valve port (low side)
6. - 19835 Condenser to evaporator tube
7. - 19860 A/C evaporator core
8. - 19D734 A/C manifold and tube
9. - 19703 A/C compressor
10. - 19712 A/C condenser core
11. - 19D644 A/C compressor pressure relief valve

Jbrew, that was the old plug, i do not have that plug on this harness. It used to branch off the harness that goes to the driver headlights and fogs, runs behind the ac compresser and goes to the passanger headlights, now there is nothing for it...
and with the second picture i dont have a plug on this harness for, and picture 3 i do not have anywhere to put the plug thats on the right. Can you size it up with yours and tell me where its supposed to go?
here is the old harness.

1. GOES TO BLACK UNIT IN PIC BELOW THAT DOESNT HAVE WIRES CONNECTED TO IT
2. TO GRAY UNIT IN PREVIOUS PIC THAT DOESNT HAVE WIRES CONNECTED TO IT
3. HEADLIGHTS
4. HORN
5. FOGS
6.WIPER FLUID
7.TURN SINGAL
8.A/C charge valve port

Here is the 2002 5.4 harness , if it matters, it came from an FX4

1. DOESN'T HAVE A HOME, OLD HARNESS DID NOT HAVE THIS PLUG
2.HEADLIGHTS
3.FOGS
4.BLACK UNIT IN PICTURE
5.TURN SIGNAL
6.WIPER FLUID

did they change the ends? Did they reroute where the harness connects to the a/c charge valve? I don't understand why it would be different and its starting to scare me because beyond swapping harnesses, i do not even know where to start or what to do. I know that everythings pretty much the same because the engine harness connects to the bracket mounted on the firewall. And the trani harness is the exact same that also connects to the backet mounted on the firewall
FRod - Are you nervous or something . - Maybe this will help you figure out what you have to do.
Yea, sh^t's different.
If your using your 4six PCM - Use as much of the 4six wiring/harness as you can. If the 5four has a different reciever - Po[p the connector off the 5four harness - DON'T cut the wires to remove/replace connctors . Each of the connectors have little hooks that keep them attacted to the harness. You can pry the hooks back with a little screw driver (maybe 2 little screw drivers and whola - The connectors pop off.
Your using the 4six computer right??? So I take it your using your 4six coils right? You better if you want it to run.
You'll get it

the trani harness i can keep the same, but i might as well use the newer one. The tcase harness and rear harness i have aswell, that ill probably change out too. This is where i am at now. As you can see the first picture is the new harness being placed all the way up to the fuse box. There are 3 big square plugs that attach to the firewall, they fit, color coated the same. Black, tan, gray. The 2nd picture is where i left off with the old harness. The engine harness for the fuel injectors cops as sensors plug into that black bracket, the 5.4 will plug into the old bracket. Are you saying i should use the old harness and remove the coil pack ends? And everything should work if i use the 5.4 pcm right...

See, what i am thinking now is there is nothing on the actual 5.4 motor that connects to this part of the harness, it has its own harness that connects to the black firewall bracket, on the inside of that bracket. So if i hooked the 5.4 MOTOR harness up to the 4.6 accessory harness, would the wires match up and everything work correctly...Thats what i need to know. Forget the coil pack recievers because that is apart of the 4.6 engine harness.
Yeah i remember that from JMC's 4.6 to 5.4 swap write-up, but i did not want to result to that. I want to keep the COPs, aren't they more powerful and efficiant?
