00Ford,

I have the Troyer kit on my 03 and love them. They do not mount thru the radiator fins anymore. Troyer now has a new mounting bracket setup that's sweet and it's secure. It does not mount to the OEM shroud bolt holes, though. It uses the top and bottom radiator flanges. It was not real hard to install and the fans work great. If you need more info, let me know and I'll tell you what I did to make it even better than their install.

Here is a good write up on the install of the EFan with the new mounting system:

TERRY,

They use a steel clip type setup that pretty much clamps the whole thing between the top and bottom flanges and it won't budge. The instructions have you remove the battery, battery tray, and the washer bottle. Then you mount the controllers on the radiator support behind the right headlight. It makes it difficult to adjust the controllers. I skipped that and mounted mine on the radiator crossbar side by side facing up and the controllers are right there and they don't get in the way of anything. It saves a huge amount of time and trouble. I sent pictures of it to Mike Troyer and he seemed to be impressed. They work great and it made a huge difference in my truck in several ways. Absolutely no regrets on getting Mike's kit.

Hey Bob, Thanks again for the info. I think I am just going to go ahead and order the Troyer fans. Gotta get it past my wife though first.

Cool

HI!... I did my custom DERALE fan kit over 8 years ago before ANYONE was making a fan kit for these newer trucks. Been running it for 8 years with no problems. Cost was $98.00(U.S) for each fan. Total was $196(U.S).

Are those 16 inch fans? Did you have any problems with running the attachment rods through the radiator? Any leaks? Thanks.

HI!... Yes they are 16" electric fans. I'm not running the copper rods that came with the fans. I'm running the plastic rods that come in a seperate mounting kit from DERALE. No issues with the plastic rods.

My only issues in the past was the metal rods. They slowly worked a hole in the radiator. The plastic rods like Neal has seem to be doing the trick if they have worked for that long.

Got it. Stay with the plastic rods and toss the metal...makes sense. Thanks
