Before you switch balancers try running it with both belts off. Watch it spin to be sure it isn't wobbling.

Just a side note - the crank bolts are TTY.

In the video it sounds like a powerstroke

But yeah, try the stock one. If it still sounds like that, then it's time to weld it on or replace the crank....... damn that would suck..

I had to replace the one on my old jeep, because the old balancer came apart. Literally, the rubber rotted and it separated.
The crank was buggered up, I almost didnt get the old one off. So it was either rebuild it or force it on...... wasn't worth rebuilding, So I pulled the radiator and supports. leaving just the fenders and inner fenders for the front clip. Then I stoop on the frame rails and drove that bastid on with a 10lb long handle sledge.

The motor had many problems besides mechanical, it was toast anyway. The block wasn't even worth rebuilding. It was held together with a few bolts and 55 gallons of JB weld.

For yours if thats really what you think it is, I'd pull it before your crank is buggered like mine did.
But the video sounded more like a stuck valve.

yes it was a good clean crank... its not a stuck valve. i'll try switching it with the old one. it still spins perfectly straight, i used the old bolt, i dont see how that would have anything to do with it, its tight... I might as well buy a new one while im at it.

The crank pulley bolt is reusable. No mention of it being a one time deal anywhere in the shop manual.

I just thought of something else. Is the supercharger pulley adapter on right? Could dish in this damper be off the OEM spec and the adapter sits too far away or too close to the supercharger pulley assembly. It might have damaged the bearings in the SC pulley assy?

the s/c pulley doesnt have a bearing, it bolts directly to the 3 holes in the balancer, it sits flush just like it should. I'll go check it out either tonight or tomorrow

So it doesn't have the support bracket between the two pulleys that bolts to the front cover like the lightnings?

That sucks built..Sounds like the timing chain hitting the cover. Seems like you would have skipped a tooth if it was that loose - maybe not.. It might be the guide that came loose ..

Kinda what it sounds like to me too.....

Wish you had stereo mics. so we could identify the location better.

Take a tire iron with out the rubber tip on it and place it on the timing cover then put you ear to the lug nut end. It acts like a stethoscope. You'll be able to tell if something is hitting the cover.

Just watch that you don't get the tire iron tangled in a belt or pulley... I'd say it would knock the crap out of you if you do.
