I feel like I just watched an movie scene where a kung fu forum black belt, thread slapped a rookie poster.
For being a first time poster, it was a bit over analyzed and over the top. Either way....sounds like the truck has been sitting for over 2 years.. plenty of time to figure out what to do. I'm not so sure about the 200hp gains with a chip, exhaust and intake though. I've seen full banks kits on a 7.3 barely put out 80-100hp. But I could be wrong. Me personally, with a dead donor sitting around and a few spare motors would rather build a strong NA 5.4L with a good set of heads and cams and get it up around 350hp. The complications and extra fabbing for the 7.3L, along with the extra weight..Doesn't seem worth it. And why take the 7.3 from a perfectly good truck? Opting for the v10 or built 5.4L sounds better to me.

the 7.3 might gain 200 ft lbs from a tune, intake and exhaust but no way will it gain 200hp

and not to mention how he hijacked a V-10 swap thread in attempts to get info on his 7.3 dreams

I spent roughly 3 months blueprinting and planning a 6bt cummins swap with a zf6 tranny into my 97. it ended at the 3 month mark due to a few things.
1) I was going to have to start with the frame and work my way up. pretty much build the whole truck over again (reinforced frame, new axles, SFA swap, what it would take to get to make the motor and bigger tranny fit).
2) it was going to cost more then buying a powerstroke or a cummins
3) way to much down time
4) My pockets aren't that deep.
lol if your just want the smoke then do like my buddy, he is attempting to shoot oil into his exaust to make smoke.
but enough of my broken dreams, on to new ones.

I have a E4OD transmission in my 97. do I need to find a v10 out of one of the 97 E series vans with the same transmissions or could I use any of the 2v v10. I know the E4OD was the stouter tranny, so will it handle the v10 without any issues. I noticed that one of the v10 swappys kept his 4r70 and doesn't seem to have much faith in it.

a built 4r70 will handle a V-10, but a stocker won't be very happy behind a V-10

An E4OD is the precursor to the 4R100.

subscribing.

I think this sounds like a good swap for the Expedition. Forget the Navi engine, go big or stay home.

So this was basicly a stock V10 and the stock pcm put into the F-150? Nice. So it passes emmisions testing then with flying colors or do you not have to test?

Can U remove the smog stuff? What is there anymore now? Did this engine need a tune or was the stock pcm good enoough for it to run properly? I know the Navi 5.4L swap needs a tune and stuff where this seems to be a drop and drive deal (with a little wiring). My Expedition already has a 4r100/4x4 and a 9 3/4 rear diff. This may be an easy swap for me. I may need a better torque converter or stay stock.

because he used the stock V-10 ECM it ran on the stock tune

you'll need a V-10 with a 4r100 ECM to make the swapa simple bolt in, leave the cats and stuff in place unless you want the custom tune

If I stay stock then I will keep it all stock. I mean the 6.8L will make enough torque to push my Expedition without any issues. And does it matter if it is a F-series or Econoline pcm?

nope as long as the donor V-10 ECM is correct for the transmission that will be used

I have a 4r100 right now. As long as i find a 6.8L, I will make sure that the pcm also is controlling a 4r100.
