I might take a 5.4 or two in a heads up race, but I'll never hookup chains against one.

 

yeh one engines designed to make low end torque the other top end torque... ones for racing/performance the other is for towing

 

The engines are nearly identical except for the stroke. That of course means the 5.4 has more torque. I even have 5.4 heads on my 4.6 engine. Other then the stroke they are the same… so the same longevity should be expected depending on how you use/abuse them.
Neither is superior in construction.

 

just where you want the power. in a truck, i believe it should be low to mid unless your racing it at the strip
