Is 4.6L Superior to 5.4L
my 1997 L/D F250 has rear disc,
this truck was basically a f150 with a towing package. with a 7700 rating rather than the standard f150 6800.
7 lug rims, 3.73 rear end and the 4r100 trans that ford should have put behind all 5.4's.

oh well, less then 1000 miles on er' and she's already got a dent..
Freakin drunk girls..
How's that six speed hit when it shifts- it sounds like it pauses a bit.
The Ford newer 4 w/od clicks in no pause , so thats got me thinking Toyo's are going to have trans probs when they start getting some miles behind them. Toyoto's first attempt for costumer interest might be a good one and it's prolly detoured some minds like yours, that was there "Marketing" goal - Personaly , I don't think it will last..It is nice haveing a new truck Ube , hope it lasts for yuh..

i dont know if toyo really knows how to build toyos my moms 4runner hydrolocked at 120k miles and blew the tranny at 100k she bought it brand new and babys that thing? and now toyo thinks that they are bad with an all alluminum block that revs up so high? i think i hear block warpage. and toyo really needs to know to build trannys that can handle that kind of power oh wait my moms 4runner doesnt have any of that its a gutless wonderer? i mean look at the reality of toyo trucks you work'em and they break they are toys. besides look out on the road what do you see 60's 70's 80's and so on of ford trucks i dont think i see any 60's 70's or even 80's toyo trucks on the road? if toyo was so good why has ford out sold everyone for 30yrs straight? also i think ive seen and heard of more guys on this web site that have double that of a toyota's mileage

. I can tell you of at least 4 04-05 F-150's that I know of that had to have their engines replaced before 50K, you might have heard of the infamous spark plug incident. Every make has their problems. I'm not ragging on Ford because I bleed blue but making accusations on what "might" happen just makes you sound ignorant. So tell me what problems are the new Silverado's going to have?Lastly, the reason why you don't see many 60's, 70's and 80's Toyota trucks on the road is until recently they were built in Japan and would have to be imported to the US. And if you do the math, there was probably 3 or 4 times more Ford trucks built than Toyota's. So odds are you "just might" see more Fords.
I will agree with you on one thing. Toyota thinks their new trucks are bad because they are. ( on paper anyways until they are proven in the real world ) For 1/2 ton drivetrains no manufacturer out there can match them now. Ford are you listening!
LOL, I hope Fords been doing more than listening , well I know they have , that's been proven.. What I wanna know is " How there going to answere and when?? " Myself , My own thought and hunch is in 2008 ..
They have had there share of probs latley and maybe they had to defer a little to handle. Mann, they have to really come back strong and they have to know this. I have a feeling they won't let any of us down..

It is because of the Toyotas and Nissans that Ford is stepping up to the plate with a better, read more powerful, engine. The imports are starting to erode the Big 3's market share. So now trucks can tow more and get better gas mileage too. Personally I don't think I would buy a Japanese pick up, but the specs sure made my head turn. I checked the SuperCab 4x4 specs for both Toyota and Ford. Toyota: 401 ft/lbs of torque @ 3600 rpm. The 5.4 has only 360 @3750. Ground clearance is 10.4 inches for Toyota and only 8.7 for the F-150. Towing for Toyota is 10300 lbs and it is confusing for the Ford but I make it out to be around 9300 lbs. Time for Ford to get moving.
