2 core radiator with trans cooler. will hold u over for cooling. deeper pan with drain plug helps also. internals will hold u over as long as u have a good pump and flowing valve body IE shift kit and vavles and springs. and a good non locking converter so it will run cooler and not explode. also use mercon III not mercon V.

how do u know exactly what i have in my transmission? do i need to make a list? and what dyno never seen one posted from you before. more less a 1/4 mile video that actually shows what u ran. doesnt just mysteriously cut off right at the light. about all u have ever shown proof of is that you can beat a VW and u can do a burnout...

troyer told me the 4r70w would hold up to a lightning if i had the transgo stage 3 shift kit...

food for thought.

edit:

well, should hold up lol. i dont think he said WILL, i think he said should.

Hi Patrick, I need to get a temp gauge , I know mines running allot cooler nowadays.

From that list - You may have the auxiliary cooler and dual core rad if you have the tow or offroad package. I would say keeping it cool should be addressed first - so the cooler and a deeper pan (aftermarket with a plug) with a synthetic added , also the transgo kit would be enough for a light mod..

Okay , you owe me 5 bucks..( :

HI!... If you want really good cooling disconnect the trans cooler from the rad and install a larger after market trans cooler out in good airflow. The rad coolant on these trucks runs around 200 degrees and just helps to heat up trans fluid in extreme driving, (dragracing). All the trans cooler is in the rad is a very small cylinder thats about 1-1/2 in diamter and about 6 inches long that sits in the driver's side rad end tank. It's not much of a cooler, more of a heat sink. It's O.K for a basically stock vehicle but start modding, higher stall converter, shift kit ETC, and you'll see trans fluid temp climb. I'd stay away from a NON- LOCK up converter. Your gas MPG will go way down hill and you will create MORE trans fluid heat due to a non - lock up converter slips most of the time, hence why now they use LOCK-UP converters.

How do you determine which stall is best? Like say a 2500 is better than a 3000 depending on application. What are your determining factors?

"Heatsink" lol, that's funny , but true haha... Patrick has an 03 , I 'm not sure when Ford changed the stock trans cooler but they did.. It's twice the size of the 98-99's and it's mounted in the center/front which makes it 100% efficiant.. It catches a heck of allot more air than the older ones.. The 98's trans cooler is on the passenger side, the oil cooler is on the drivers side..

Like I said , I know Ford upgraded the trans cooler - not sure what year..
