All the trans cooler is in the rad is a very small cylinder thats about 1-1/2 in diamter and about 6 inches long that sits in the driver's side rad end tank. It's not much of a cooler, more of a heat sink. It's O.K for a basically stock vehicle but start modding, higher stall converter, shift kit ETC, and you'll see trans fluid temp climb. I'd stay away from a NON- LOCK up converter. Your gas MPG will go way down hill and you will create MORE trans fluid heat due to a non - lock up converter slips most of the time, hence why now they use LOCK-UP converters.

non-lock=more torque (constantly multiplying)

pretty sure non lock= loss of power... slipping gets you nowhere. Non locking will also make twice as much heat...

HI!... NON - LOCK UP CONVERTER = twice as much heat, 1/2 as much power going to the ground. I don't know about you, but I knocked off 1/2 a second off my 1/4 mile times by locking my converter up a hell of a lot sooner in 2nd and 3rd gear. It fully locks up 1 second after the 1st to 2ND gear up shift anf from the 2ND to 3RD gear upshift. If I ran a non lock-up converter, I'd still be in the high 14's and as slow as a 4.6.

i woulda thought you people would know more about torque converters then this..

Torque converters DO multiply torque when a vehicle is first taking off.
however once the vehicle reaches 30+ mph the engine catches up to the transmission I.E 3rd gear or direct drive. its at this point that the torque converter becomes useless because the engine has to spin faster to keep up with the tranny.

most if not all vehicles now a days have lock up torque converters for fuel economy.
