Who is in the 100,000 mile club?
My 97 4.6 has 264K. I am sure glad I can fix what has failed. The GEM for the 4x4(locked in 4x4 low), the instrument cluster temp gauge, headgasket leaking oil, AC clutch bearing, U-joint, idler pulley, & alternator. The engine is not the easiest to work on but it is what I have. It would be a whole lot nicer if it was a GM 350. With the gas prices where they are at, I will not be putting a lot of miles on it in the future.
100,000mi as of last Easter weekend. Rolled it coming home from a visit with the family. Since the truck had 78,000mi on it when I bought it, I do not know for certain what has or has not been repaired/replaced, but all I have personally done is replace the alternator and what appeared to be the original battery, as well as upper and lower ball joints plus an inner tie rod end. I also just bought a new set of tires, but I have no idea how many miles were on the tires that came with the truck, so I do not know if the last set lasted a long time or not. What I can say is their demise was the front end problems with the ball joints...horrible wear on the outside edge of the front drivers side tire.
From my personal perspective, none of the things I have repaired or paid a shop to repair for me were unreasonable in any way for a 9 yr old truck with 100,000mi on it. If I had it to do over again, I would buy my truck without a moments hesitation...unless I saw a real good deal on the same thing with a 5.4 liter in it...

My '99 F150 4wd with the 4.6 has 118,574.6 miles on it. I bought the truck with 10,000 miles on it. Its my daily driver and also gets driven HARD to fires and car wrecks(Volunteer fireman). I am fixing to order me some Magna cats as I believe mine are going south. Just put a new set of 285/75/16 BFG TA/KO's on her(not shown in my sig). Hoping to get another 100,000 out of it.
1997 f150 4x4 4.6L just rolled over 350 000 km dont know wat that is in miles and the engine has not been touched just regular oil changes and fluid changes. 2nd owner of truck and have all reciepts from 97 truck runs like a dream. pulls hard too.
my 99 was fleet maintained for the first 185000 by a good mech where i worked its a 4.6 with 4r70w trans bare stock except the headache rack w/tailgate saver i have all maint records and except the rebuilt tranny i put in when i bought it and a fuel problem that took me near 2 weeks to figure out it is now a hair over 206000mi runs like a champ and is just a great overall truck im looking to get at least 350000 or im going to demand my money back
she sure isnt a show truck but i love her anyway
99 f150= $600
rebuilt trans and torque convertor= $950
finding a split fuel line in my tank= all my hair

I just hit 100,000 pulling into the driveway.
2000 5.4 Had it since new.
No Door Cracks!
The only thing I hate about it are the brakes.
Stuff replaced
Fuel Pump at 60,000
Lower ball joints at 88,000
Alternator at 85,000
O2 sensors at 90,000
Hoping to get a 2009 when they come out.

Just rolled over 157K on the old truck. It's a '99 F150 4X4. I've had great luck with the truck only having minor maintenance issues; plugs, a couple coil packs, alternator, etc. No major drive train issues or oil usage. Would drive it cross country tomorrow.
