BUT... my dad also had a 2006 Ford F150 Lariat and just surpased 230,000 miles... but his tach and speedometer broke so we need to replace the instrument panel so it will be wiped away soon. anyone selling any? or know of where to get them cheaper then $250?

144K+ on an 01. no trouble so far. only routine maintenance. only about 10K since i was on here last, expensive gas keeps a retired person off the road but for necessary trips.

I just rolled 135k on my short block today.... Tranny has about 350 miles, Front and rear diffs were rebuilt at 100k..... So really only things that are still factory are the body, interior, short block, and transfer case...

I have a 99 4.6 xlt supercab and just turned 303,000. Rebuilt the top end at 220,000. Original everything else. I just recently lost overdrive.

I have a 97 Flareside Reg cab 5.4L. Just went over 275,000 this weekend. All original drivetrain (except plugs, one coilpack, alternator, belt, battery, and power steering pump). Still has the original radiator hoses and waterpump. My grandson has been driving it for about a year now (he lives with us). At about 213,000 I bought a 2006 Trailblazer SS. Traded that in on a 2011 Camaro SS. I work at GM headquarters and my company prefers I drive my customer's vehicles. The Camaro is the coolest car I've ever owned, but the F150 is still the best I've ever owned.

I had a 1988 F150 that had in excess of 196000 miles. The engine was ok and the body was in fine shape. It was beginning to nickle and dime me to death (I thought), and I practically gave it away.

pluckydog... if you have a rough idle at 115k i got the same problem. ended up changing spark plugs, ignition coils, and almost fuel injectors til i realized the PCM just needed to be reprogrammed (done at the Dealership for only 45) good luck!

I too, was worried that I might have to get reid of my 02 F-150. I have not had any major problems (knock on wood). I have 105,000 miles on mine and she is still running like a champ. I do have to change my plugs and shocks, they should'nt be that difficult. But if it dose I know I will be back to get ya'lls advice.

100,000 + food for thought....

Well this is my third post. My 2000 F 150 4x4 5.4L Lariat is a great truck.
I have read several post and gotten a couple personal replies.

I recently replaced my heater coil, ghezz... 750.00 after all was said and done. Couple months ago I replaced my tires, brakes and flushed the brake system. I do have a K&N intake and good flow exhaust another grand +.
I get 14 city and 17 - 18 hwy. My insurance I can live with, my state tax goes down each year and registration I have no control.

I challenge you to do the math.

Fantasize a buying a new truck with 25 mpg.
You insurance will go up. Your registration will go up.
Your taxes will go up. you still have to guy gas.
You now have a hefty payment, that alone way off sets the rising price of gas.

Replace you seats, paint the bugger, rebuild the tranny, what the heck replace the engine, i guess I have it bad huh, each morning I rise before the wife I get my big cup of coffee and while sitting on the porch watching the sun come up I say to my truck good morning sweetheart.

Oh don't forget to make as many post as possible

Support our troops.

Well @ 261,000,
I pulled the plug and removed the old '01 4.6 out and installed a '02 Lightning motor with 40,000 in its place. For you guys at a 100,000 change oil religiously, tranny fluid once every yr- yr 1/2
keep good brakes and tires under it and you'll prbly
get at least 225,000 -250,000 out of them.
I drive my truck like I stole it.I tried to hit a 100mph
everyday I owned it. Also I carry an extra 700-800 lbs in the back since day 1.Let you know how the
new motor works out!

Monkeychub.....Just changed the plugs, problem solved, I had changed them 8000 miles ago but was to cheap to buy original equipment. I learned a valuable lesson on this one.

My father in law says" the lazy work twice" so do the cheap.

Thanks for the advise.
