2004 Supercrew lariat 4x4. 184,000 miles. This week I rebuilt Tranny, Got New tires, changed plugs, bought the Lisle tool to remove broken plug, and changed the oil. $2,700 is way cheaper than a new Truck!

Ok Its been 4 Days with the new Lightning motor
running and I have to tell you I got it bad. This thing is absolutely insane.I put new plugs in it per my tuner instruction and was amazed at the difference.Anyway I told you guys I would let you know how it went. The install was not easy or cheap.
At one point When I was feeling particularly Low I wondered if it was really worth it. Let me just say "Hell Yes".My truck is ten going on eleven it had 260,000 mi. on a 4.6 that I beat on every day trying to make it die I'm happy to say it did not. My new engines birthday mileage is 35,445 mi.Off to the Tuners tomorrow to get HP/TRQ numbers.I'll let you know what it puts down.
Oh and its alot cheaper than buying a new truck besides new trucks dont have SUPERCHARGER whine.

two holes that get filled with carbon on the throttle body

What two holes and where are they located, and how do you clean them out

What are the symptoms of those 2 clogged holes

thanks

Loss of power

I'd like to know too. I've been noticing some slight power loss (115,000 miles now, fresh plugs at 105,000). I haven't started checking anything but it just feels like a fuel injection problem. Good to know problem areas when looking around. Thanks.

I just traded my truck with 198K miles on it and got a 2006 5.4L one with 112K on it.
Hopefully my new truck runs just as strong as my 2000 5.4L with 198k on it.

contact Ford with spark plug issues

Unfortunately, I am in the 100K club and finding out the hard way I don't want to be. Been without my '04 for 5 days while the dealer is trying to change the plugs - 4 broke, 1 still in and won't come out

Anyone with this issue needs to call Ford to complain. I just did and their basic reply was (with my coments and preceptions thrown in) ...."we know there is a problem" (they didn't say that, but they do know), "but we cannot do anything until we get actual complaints that can be routed up the chain of command and a list can be created". The lady said all of the complaints and b!tching on forums like these does no good at all (eventhough Ford and the "engineers" obviously know about the issue - they fixed if for cryin' ou loud on newer models!!) and people need to call Ford Customer Service". If they get enough actual complaints then maybe Ford will do something - basically I/we are SOL unless Ford deems it "worthy". Keep your receipts in case Ford does eventually decide to do the right thing.

So please, if you haven't called, do so now and tell anyone you may know to do the same. Let's make Ford take notice and step up to the plate to reimburse owners/dealerships for their p!ss-poor design.

Ford Customer Service: 1-800-392-3673
