Keep hoping

One thing I do like is the green instant MPG gage. It kind of teaches you how to drive the truck to improve you MPG, if you take the time to actually look at it a every once in a while.

Very pleased today! I started to drive my truck with respect this past week and it seems to be paying off. I've got a photo of the Trip A: I drove around 390 miles in 7.75 hours and I averaged 22.2 mpg!!! I filled it up and reset Trip A, the first 20 miles was in town and I got on the interstate at about 14.8 mpg average. I dove 72 mph for the next 75 miles and I was up to 18.1 mpg. I dove the next 70 miles at 67 mph and was up to 21.5 mpg. The last leg was mostly city driving with some rural roads and stoplights but I followed the speedlimit which was 30,45, 55, and 67 mph. I pulled into the hotel with about 190 miles and it read 22.3 mpg. I drove the same route home with a little city driving mixed in, only this time I just drove 67mph home. The wind was not a factor at all. It balanced out in the end, it was infront of me as much as it was behind me. I took it really easy leaving every light and stop sign. I started the trip with 1850 miles on the ODO and I'm over 2200 miles now.

I was very impressed with this trucks fuel economy. The best I'd ever gotten before was high teens. However this was the longest stretch of highway I've done since I bought it AND I resptected my truck for the first time too.

My only complaint is the 1st -3rd shifts are hard. But that's my fault I beat the hell out of it and that's how the computer thinks I drive now. I'm going to eat some crow and baby it for a couple of tanks of fuel. Hopefully it will shift quicker (1200rpm vs 1700 rpm)and softer through the gears VS. the race like programing it has now.

The opportunity for good fuel mileage is there all you have to do is respect the truck. If someone can PM me to tell me how to post the pic that'd be great.

There is also a lot of fuel economy that could be gained with a good tune. This truck is PIG RICH when you first start it up. That's why it sucks for fuel economy with short trips and shutting the engine off a lot. I hope this is just a break in tune issue that will go away between 3000 and 5000 miles. (Yes there are break in tunes for all vehicles believe it or not) If this truck gains as much fuel economy as my last truck did with a tune. I'd have been over 24.5 mpg on this trip. BOO-YAHHH!

Have a great night fellas!

I completely agree with your assessment, I have been consistently getting great mileage with mine. It's all in the Foot!

Wrong, the warranty has specific provisions that must be followed.

Got my Ecoboost on order...my previous car was a Mazdaspeed 6, which was the 2.3L direct injected turboed car similar to the new ecoboost engine. This will be my fourth turboed vehicle, second factory, the other two were built turbo cars. Hoping to get her broken in quick and get some miles hauling on it come August.

Ecoboost and boat

I have a Super Crew with 315 rear end. Current mileage is 1365. I pulled my bass boat from Western KY to Central KY. This was a short trip of about 300 miles. Cruise was set on 70 mph. The boat, motor and trailer are approximately 3,000 lbs. Running pure gas with no alcohol, I got and even 16 mpg. This is both hand calculated and on the truck. The best my Yukon had gotten with this same set up was 14.5 mpg. I have not had a chance to make this trip without a load but am looking forward to that next week.

There were some post earlier about backing up the data for mileage to improve after 2500 or 3000 miles. It says this in the owners manual. I don't have it with me but I will post the page number later.

I purchased an fx4 screw with max trailer tow and took it from colorado to rapid city. The truck had 40 miles when we left. It averaged 17.5mpg on the trip there averaging 75-80mph, and 16.5mpg on the way back. I have absolutely no complaints about the mileage. Over the life of the truck if I average 17mpg I will be pleased, although I think it will do better than that. I have always owned chevy trucks, but i refuse to buy one after the bailout. This has to be the most comfortable fun to drive truck I have ever owned. The interior is amazing as well. Time will tell with this motor, but as of right now I think it's great. As soon as I hit the 1000 mile break in I will pull my 24 camper (6000lbs) and post the mpg results. My 08' Silverado averages 8-11 so I'm hoping I can at least get that.
