Ecoboost Owners Reports
I have pulled 165 miles with my '12 Ecoboost. With my 6700lbs. trailer my mileage got down to 14.8. Here is what the pickup has 3.73 gears,6.5' bed,supercrew,4x4,Lariat. I am soo freaking pleased with the milage. My last pickup was a '06 Dodge Megacab, 4x4, Cummins, and it was getting 13.8mpg EMPTY! I have not had the chance to get on the highway much so the best back and forth to work mileage has been 17.
I just got back from a trip to the Tampa area. From my house to there was 535~ miles. I went down 19 so there was quite a bit of stop and go through the towns. My average mileage there and back was 19.4 including a bit of driving in the Bay area traffic. On the freeway my cruise was set at 75. On 19 outside of the cities my cruise was set at 70. Considering my last truck got less than 16 mpg @ 70 mph doing the same trip I am rather pleased.
Just filled up another tank, 1100kms, 125 litres, avg so far is 21 mpgs in 4.4 supercrew 3.55. - mostly highway driving. I have found best mileage is around 50 - 60 mpgs which is slower than I drive.
OK ... I have been reading these posts for over a year now mainly in disbelief. I have a 2011 F150 ecoboost 4X4 SCREW. I think SCREW is appropriate. I could not get over 20 miles per gallon, not even going down hill, wind at my back, and engine off. I average 12-13 miles per gallon and my miles are split pretty even from Hwy to surface streets. The truck has all the torque, but non of the grail type MPG everyone is touting. In fact as a tow vehicle it SUCKS!!! I tow a 22' toy hauler will little to light load in it. Never carry water and only two pretty light bikes at most. I average literally 7.3 miles to the gallon. That is pathetic.
A couple things to consider. You have a 4x4. Automatically it's not going to get as good fuel mileage as the 4x2 trucks. Second what is your gear ratio? Mine is 3.15. If you have smaller gears you will not get as good mileage. Third how fast do you go on the freeway? If I had been going my normal 80 on the freeway, my mileage would have dropped to well below 19. Fourth how do you drive? When I drive my truck the same way as my Charger I get much lower economy. Around 16-17 mpg. I don't drive like granny, but I'm not hot rodding it either. Add into that all of the other things yours has mine doesn't I could see it very easily only getting 14-15 mpg. Surface streets would exacerbate the smaller gears and extra weight.

My highway mpg number is quite dependent on hills and such - from DC to Pittsburgh, I get around 18.5, the return trip is 19, and flat highways is 22-24.

As I said before. I drive a mix of city/freeway and just reset my trip ODO from my last oil change for the last 5,000mile average at 17.7mpg over that span. I also drive an FX4 SCREW with the 20"s and that is almost identical to your truck and with a 3.73 rear end as well...
My mileage also seems to be improving at a good rate as the engine breaks in and I have been watching it slowly go up over time. I can easily stay over 20mpg if I cruse at 55mph.
Something seems amiss for sure...

Something else. Your truck in the city should be getting between 12-18 mpg. On the highway with a speed limit of around 60 mph (that is not the freeway with 70 mph limits) it should be getting between 17-25. If you have a spirited driving style that will definitely put you at the lower end of the scale. Freeway miles go down once you get up to about 70 mph. Again if you are driving 75, 80, 90 mph on the freeway, then you will be lucky to get the lower end of the highway miles.
Freeways are the interstates. Highways are the rural roads that have the 55-60 mph speed limits.

Impressed
I just made a 1700 mile round trip to pick up a brand new 1996 Baja Boss 302 (30 ft twin big blocks).
800 miles from Prairieville, La to Louisville, Kentucky with cruise set at 75, I got 19.6 mpg. Yea if I drove 45 and milked it I could have reported some stupid numbers?
Now, the tow home, I was told by everyone to not even attempt this with a F-150! When I saw the seller was towing with a 1 ton I knew I was in for a slow white knuckle ride home. Could not have been more wrong! This little truck handle it with no trouble at all, no weight distribution hitch, no sway bars and solid as a rock down the road. I have towed with big V8s and diesels but never anything like this! When you hitch up a message should come up saying "I got this, you just steer)!
Cruise set at 67-68 mph and never had to kick it off. On long inclines it would drop to 5th and top the hill at 68, under 2000 rpms. V8s I've had before I would have to kick the cruise off before it blows itself up! The only thing stopping me from towing faster was my age and common sense.
13 mpg through the hills and here's the funny part, down south on flat ground it dropped to 12.5 mpg??
When I ordered this truck I wasn't planning on towing anything this big so I went with 355 gears and not the 373 Max Tow.
