Ecoboost Owners Reports
First post after picking my truck up just over a week ago. Overall average after about 600 miles on the ticker is 17.5 mpg. However, the past 100 or so miles I'm getting about 18.5 mpg. That's combined city/highway. Primarily to and from work, a few stoplights and a couple flat 45-50 mpg stretches.
2012 Screw 4x4 w/3.31 gears.
All in all I'm very pleased with the truck so far. It blows away my 06 in every possible aspect.

I bought my EB in 10/11, so I had read up on the issues people were having, and I still got my truck - out of the hundreds of thousands of 3.5-liter EB engines out there, only a relative handful are having problems, so I saw no reason NOT to get the engine I had wanted since I first heard about it.

ok here is a question for everyone that owns 2011 EcoBoost 150 FX4, can anyone tell me if Ford made just black running boards for this truck. reason im asking, I bought Brand new and the dealer had to bring it from another dealership because i wanted sun roof and shifter in floor and the ones they had didn't have them. But I recalled it had BLACK running boards. Well when they called me the next day to pick up my truck, it didn't have any, make a long story short, they ordered new, came in chrome, i said BLACK guy Black, they said it was mistake and they were going to get my the ones I asked for. Well I thought they had the right ones but when I picked up my truck, they were grey with black inserts and black end caps, he said they dont make them black for my truck. ANYONE KNOW ANY DIFFERENT PLEASE POST ME A PICTURE OR PART NUMBER

the problem I have is not that relatively few Eco's are having a problem. It's that Ford doesn't seem to have a clue, which means that many of you problem-free owners could have that issue pop up at any moment.
If Ford understood the issue and had a TSB to fix, I'd be in like Flint. But it seems they are stumped, and that does not bode well.

1,600 miles in and running great so far. Got 20.5 mpg round-trip on a recent 200 mile highway jaunt out to my hunting property. Overall fuel economy hanging right at 17.5 mpg with mostly "suburban" driving. All in all, I'm loving this truck.
OK, so I am really starting to worry about the mileage on my EB. I purchased a 2012 Screw, 4X4, 3.73, with 6.5' bed about 4 weeks ago. I received the truck with 500 miles on it since the dealer had to drive it from Nor. Cal to bring it to me. Started with full tank of gas (36 gal). I drove ~ 400 miles of mixed city (70%) and highway (30%, no faster than 70). The computer said I was getting 12.9 mpg average and when I filled the tank my calculation agreed. I now have about 100 more miles (95% city) and it is only showing 11.3 mpg. I am really light on the throttle and even trying to coast whenever possible.
My truck seems to be outside the norm of what other are reporting. I am wondering how many fill ups I should get and prove this poor mileage to the dealer.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you live in a populated area of California, you are probably using our low energy content 'clean' fuel.
Less BTU's per gallon = lower mpg. Seems to be a bigger problem with city mpg.
It's been that way on mileage threads forever on this board. The people getting the best mileage usually live in areas that don't have air quality problems, and the EPA lets them run the good fuel.
For whatever reason, Ford trucks really seem to suffer an mpg penalty on CA fuel.
Not saying there is nothing wrong with your truck, but just pointing out something I've observed time and time again on this board.

Okay, another check in at 2,500 miles. Just finished an 800 mile round trip to Northern Wisconsin. 3 adults & 1 baby, 150 lbs worth of dogs, towing 14 foot Alumacraft boat loaded to the gills with all the stuff for the wife/kid. Got 15.5 mpg on the way North, cruise set at 70 mph into a pretty steady headwind. The ride home I got 17 mpg with the cruise at 72-75 mph with a decent tailwind.
Still gettin mid 17's around down, and when not loaded down or towing something I can push 20 mpg on the highway. No other problems or issues to note.
Just got my Leer 100XL installed about two weeks ago. Loving everything about this truck, except when the Sync fails to recognize what I'm telling it. Stupid thing.

I have a 2011 screw 5.5 bed 4x4 I started getting about 17 right out of the gate with mine from the dealer with 32 miles on it. 2800 on it now and averaging around 18.5 to 23 depending on speed 23 is at 60 to 65 18.5 is at about 70 to 75. Haven't towed with it yet. Only complaint is the a/c kinda sux compared to my silverado I had but other than that I love the truck.
