You have a 4R70E, and all I see is a 3L3P or a 5L3P for a 2005. I show the 4L3P is a 4R70W and was used in the 2004 Heritage. I show the 3L3P was used in 2004 (new body style) and 2005, the 5L3P was used in 2005. I'm guessing either will work as long as it's out of a 4.6 4x4.

Is it possible the 3L3P,4,5, etc are just build codes and any 4R70E will work in my truck (as long as it's 4x4, and otherwise matching)?

Thanks

I would say that any automatic out of a 2004 or 2005 F150 4x4 with 4.6 should work, 2005 preferred.

Post #6:

In 98 the internal electronics changed on these transmissions. What you have is a common problem that most get when they swap in a newer transmission into a 97 or older vehicle.

You can either fix it by swapping the internal wiring harness and all the solenoids from the old transmission into the new one or by repinning the harness on the truck to work with the newer transmission.
Posts #34 and #35 have the repin info.

Hello will a 1999 ford mustang 4.6 4r70w trans work in a 2006 ford f150 with the 4.2 that also has a 4r70w transmission?

Nope. You are stuck with a 2006 4.2 F150 transmission. You have a 4R70E. Get yours rebuilt, used ones are expensive.

4r70e

The only trans that will work in my 2006 f150 with the 4r70e are 2005-2008 f150 with the 4.2 and the lariat of the same years with 4.2 and the 2006 lincoln I’m just trying to get an idea of what will work

Lariat and Lincoln transmissions won't work, they don't have a 4.2. The 4.2 has a different bellhousing pattern than any of the V8's except for the old pre-1997 302. Nothing before 2005 will work because of a different output shaft.

I would think all have the basic Shift solenoid #1 & #2, TCC, & EPC, Temperature sensor, VSS and OSS, and Transmission Range sensor.

I can't imagine there being that much difference...Just wanted to ask the pro's!!
can you send the repin diagram to me pleaese crzywork1989 gmail.com
