It might sound like a silly question to some but does raising the front 2.5" effect fuel mileage? I wonder if the drag under the truck is worse from the lift causing fuel mileage to worsen. I had a 98 Jeep Cherokee that I lifted 4" and could definitely see a drop in mpg.

Where did you get this for $90.00 and do you know if it available for an '02?

Red02FX4 you don't need a level kit for your truck. The 97-03 F150s have a torsion bar which you can adjust to obtain up to 3" of lift (Nobody recommends going over 2.5" though).

Wingman4... Thanks ... found that out today. My concern was a stiff ride on a torsion bar crank and was looking for options, but my truck shop gave good advice and it is scheduled for a level kit & alignment on Friday

TXST8tj... nice ride. thanks for the pics. Cost me $$ to see this, LOL

No need for a spring compressor. But you will need a 30mm socket (can rent from many local auto parts stores). Nothing to it. The write ups in this forum are exactly what you need to get through it!

Doing another AS 2.5" tomorrow.....txsaltwater - might be yours actually.

I'm going to be doing another Rough Country 2.5" full kit (2.5" strut spacers and 1" rear blocks) on my buddy's 2wd here pretty soon.

This is really an incredible write-up from beginning to end. I have a couple of questions:

1. ...and this has been asked before but not answered as far as I can tell. I realize that an alignment is required after installing the AS Level Kit. And I plan to get 35's on there at or near the same time. Would it be better to get the alignment before the tires (but after the AS Kit) or after both the Kit and the tires?

2. What is that makes the white Screw in post #162 look so weird? When the Screw and Scab in posts #172 and #152 looking SUPER BITCHIN'. As stated, they are all 2.5" kits. Did #152 and #172 get the rear lifted in addition? Has #162 just not been aligned yet?

If it helps get the answer, I have an '06 FX4 Screw...essentially the same as the truck in #172 just black.

get the alignment with the stockies...i learned my lesson as I had my aftermarket wheels and they couldn't get em on the machine...they charged me to take em off swap on the stockies and put the aftermarkets back on...huge pita and $$$$

definitely get the alignment before the tires. you don't want to slap $1000+ worth of tires on there and get side-tracked on getting the alignment done and wear them down....it can only take a couple hundred miles.

the truck in #162 does have the 2.5" spacer, but it really should have the 2". adding a lift block to the rear would also be a good solution. for whatever reason, the rear on that truck is just lower than some.
the truck in #172 is a FX4 and the 2.5" spacer got it level front to rear.

i'm not sure if it is a difference between the standard 4x4 package vs the FX4 4x4 package or not. it just goes to show you that not all trucks are equal, regardless that they may be the same trim package.
