Only major problem we had was a new 4.6l motor at 10,000 miles. Blew a head gasket on passenger side. Replaced motor at FORDS expense. Since then no major problems. Had all 4 seatbelts replaced for safety recall, recall was for front only but I was having the problem with rear belts also, so dealer swaped out all of them. A couple of window regulator problems. We now have just over 40,000 miles and going strong. Knock on wood!

Well, where do I start? Let's see, right after I got it, the rear window had to be replaced under warranty along with the power mirror switch. Stock bfg's seperated at 28k and had to be replaced. All was fine until 48k when the tranny went. Found to be a defective gearing in there but I still paid for it. 68k it was time for new calipers and pads as the old calipers had froze and ruined the recently replaced pads. Currently at 72k and the truck needs a new pitman arm, the starter is dragging, and the hubs need service. Other than all of this, it has been fine.

Thumbs up 73K and going strong!

2001 XLT (base version) 60/40 seats. Aftermarket alarm.

I got the truck used on Valentines day weekend this year. Had aprox 61K on it at the time. From the paperwork I could find, it looks like the rear gears (3.55) were replaced as well as some bearings...... "some sort of rearend noise" is what PO said. Seller had just done the front brakes (and cut the rotors...Midas...). Rears looked OK.

First thing I found, on second day of ownership, was a bad oil sender. No biggie, $6 at the dealer. later on the bezel that holds the window switches etc broke, but I think that was my kid......... again only $11 or so.

Only thing bugging me, is the rear window slider seal has fallen off the LH side.... and I just haven't found another truck locally to look at, to see what I need to do to glue it back on! No, I'm not going to take it to the dealer for this.....

Will need tires probably mid next year.... Get 20+mpg. Use about 1 qt of Mobil One per oil change...at about 4500-5000 miles.

Just bought a new Pioneer head unit, and some 6x8's so will be yanking the original unit and remote cd player. Will probably put in a remote CD player again, but in the future.

Other than morons with heavy doors chipping the pain...... this car...errr truck has been great!!! Oh, can't forget rocks on the freeways.... got some major stone chips in the windshield.... while commuting... Sorta a cost of biz around here!

My dad has one too, and I think the only thing he's had done is one coil pack. He's got about 30K on it.

Would like to some day upgrade the vinyl steering wheel to a top level XLT leather one. I liked my dad's wheel better....

Just bought a soft tonneau cover. Will see how that goes.....

Lastly would like a set of chrome side nerf/steps eventually.

So far, still lovin' it!!!
Steve

70K and going strong

Bought my F150 Lariat SCrew used in mid-Oct and its been great. The only problem I've had was two coil packs went out on me about a week ago. Took it to the dealer (under warranty) and got it back 4 days and $100 (deductable) later. Guy said it was about a $400 repair bill for them so I'm very glad I got the extended warranty. I think I caused the packs to go out though, I was doing a little romping thru a construction site a couple days prior and hit some pretty deep mud holes which were more water than mud, but maybe it was just a coincedence.

Merry Christmas all! :santa:

2001-Gen III Lariat SuperCrew 4.6, 4x4 32,000 miles

Minor problems
Mobile1 every 5,000
New tires at 25,000 - originals were poor in the rain. Replaced with Dueler Revos
Rotors/pads at 19,000
Some noise in fron pass door when window is lowered. Not annoying enough to look at now
Hood latch wouldn't unlatch, then when it did wouldn't latch. Fixed it today, but found rust under that plastic cowl that now I have to look into...

those 05s look pretty tempting.

'03 Screw Lariat 5.4L 4X4

Bought brand new July '03. All stock, no mods. Would like a nice GROWLY cat back system someday, but no hurry. 29K+ miles. Only issue was loose bed due to a few loose bolts, but since then no problems. It has definitely done what I needed it to do and then some. I have it serviced every 5K, still using Motorcraft 5W-20. Although the '05's look tempting, I plan to keep this one. She's a good 'un.

2002 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat FX4.
5.4L Triton V-8
44089 Miles.
No mods yet.
Castrol Syntec every 3000 miles.
I drive at least 100 miles each day to and from work.
Use 4-wheel drive (HI) frequently.
No problems whatsoever.
I would have to say this is the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Just worried about what I saw on the news about F-150s catching fire due to something related to the cruise-control shut-off switch or something like that.

76,000 replace tranny. Ford tech said it was somewhat common on 01 screws. He sees it mostly on 4x4s. He said that the sun gear (planet gear as I now it) has a weld on it and that if the weld breaks and the gear expands then bad thing happen. I do not even tow with my truck and Merry Christmas that will be $3000 for the reair. $1600 for the tranny and $1000 labor. All I can do is bend over and take it. Tranny explode right across the street form the Ford place.

Other than that no other problems. Just normal wear and tear.

61400 miles

I have little more that 61000 on mine, and the tranny thunk I guess can't be fixed but it hasn't been as prominent these days as it used to be.

I had to change my electric mirror control switch at 30,000 and the headlamp control shorted out right when I bought it at 16,000....I have done the regular stuff...but I have the passenger window vibrating and making a horrible noise just driving down the road. Something loose in there. I will fix that on my own, so I guess I haven't really had to do much to my truck. I love it and I think it loves me back. Now if I could get some chick to do the same.
