I have a 2003 Supercrew KR 4x4 w/ 5.4 V8 and I got a list of problems:

Following Repairs Done at around 18k:
Front Rotors and Calipers were replaced
2 Door sensors were replaced.
Had clunk in stearing and that ended up being something loose in the rack and pinion.

Leather Covers replaced due to defect in leather at 24k

Following Repairs Done at 32k:
Valve Body in Transmission Replaced
Rear Differential Clutches Replaced
Front Stabilizer Link Replaced
Front Right CV joint Replaced
Front Shocks replaced
There was a popping noise in the front end when making turns, so dealer once again pulled apart the front end to find it.

Following Repairs Done at 35k:
Another door sensor replaced
Sunroof leaked causing damage to headliner. Dealer has headliner on order and have redone the sunroof.
Keyless Entry Pad on door was replaced.

Other than that, its been a great truck.

not sure if there is enough room on here to list the problems i've had in the last 14 months.

purchased the truck brand new the first week of September '03, 2 weeks later had to have the roof , hood and rear drivers side repainted ( was told we have nuclear bugs that eat thru the paint, ya right me thinks poor quality control was more like it). took it back again 2 weeks later to have the rear passenger side window mechanism replaced because the window would not follow the track properly. that was it until May /04 . took it in to have my regular oil change and to have them look at the drivers window mechanism along with why my interior lights kept coming on and off by themselves. they had it 5 days. was told my windshield leaked onto the PCM which they replaced along with the front windshield. while they had it in there they must have taken out the transfer case to work on the PCM because they noticed the 4 wheel drive did not engage. they had to order the parts for it and also replace one front wheel seal. picked it up 5 days later. i had to bring it back again because they did not replace the drivers window after they found a piece of metal in the mechanism which scratched my window and the tint i had put on it. they also put in the wrong windshield( was suppose to be the tinted one) and they broke my rear view mirror. this was suppose to be ready to be picked up? took it back 3 weeks later to have those issues fixed once more. picked it up and i was going on holidays the next day for 2 weeks. they had broke the 2nd rear view mirror and had to order another one. went back in the middle of August to have that replaced. now i have to take it this Friday to have a vibration looked at that is so annoying that my hands get numb holding the steering wheel. i figure it's a univerisal joint or a driveshaft out of balance. it is not related to the motor at all. just when the truck is moving. i guess i didn't pay enough for the truck. i should have paid 10 grand more to get a well built truck(not). i love the truck otherwise but i don't like the stupid small problems. it's real embrassing to have to explain to a GMC or Dodge guy why your truck is back in the shop.

my dad has a 2000 extended cab and has never had a lick of problems. he laughs and all he says is, were was yours built? his was built in Oakville, Canada while mine was built in the US(nothing personal). i know this shouldn't matter but man i'm thinking it has a lot to do with the quality issues i've been having. not the dealer issues, but the quality. that truck should never have been sold needing to be repainted, windows not working right or front windshield leaking onto the PCM, now a vibration in the drive train. all quality issues as far as i'm concern. what makes me so upset is i love the truck, the looks, the ride etc.
all my issues have/are being handled without any problems and i must tip my hat to Ford for that.

sorry guys had to vent and i'm sorry for stepping on your toes

01 5.4L 2WD Screw 55k

at 30K had a rear shock blow out, silly Ford wouldn't cover it because it wasn't visually leaking oil. -- Replace with RSX9000s.

Have done 2 brake jobs- Heavy truck
I am really hard on brakes. Want to make sure they are working their best.

New tires and rims at 40k.

About to replace carpet because is it not worth saving.

Also need new speakers.

Have a 03 FX4. I like the truck except the horrible gas mileage. It has 20k on it. I do not like the transmission as it never seems to know what gear it wants to be in, shifts way too much. I had a 96 GMC Sierra before this and it was the best vehicle I ever owned, sold it with 241,000 miles and still runs great. So I really hope this one will be as good as my old one.

Have a 2001 GEN III with 32,400 miles. Only problem, my left turn signal on the rear view mirror didn't work but was fixed by the dealer under the warranty which expired October 31, 2004. This is the best truck I have ever owned - have had it hunting in snow and mud this season and the Bridgestone Dueller Revo in 17" are the best. Also, Ford repainted my truck for free and I chose the custom paint shop but paid for the two tone and taking out all of the dents. Have a really good dealer - Phil Long Ford in Lakewood, CO. First of all...... what constitutes a Gen III ?? Is it when your truck was built?? I only see this with '01`s.

Anyway, the ONLY problem I `ve had is an annoying noise when my driver`s side window goes up OR down, and the poor quality of the OEM General AW tires it came with!! Other wise I totally love this truck!! I`ll love it even more once I get my new exhaust..... my other half is giving me grief about it, but I just tell her that it`s cheaper than getting an`04 or `05!!!

Update: Some kind of brake problem off and on. As if the right front brake will not release at times. Off and on vibration that can get quite severe at times. Dealer can not find any problems. Still on warrenty, so I'll drive it till something brakes, then they'll find it. Whoops, about 23,000 miles now.

Too slow and not enough power! Fixed the problem with a Kenne Bell supercharger - now I have the best of all worlds; 4x4 off-roading (to retrieve deer), full four door comfort, tow 6500# of horses and trailer, put a ARE cap on it and got a huge trunk, taken it to the track and beat most cars and trucks there (especially the ricers), and on top of it all - it looks awsome! Supercrews are the best vehicle on the road today!
