how much power/boost can the 5.4 (2 valve) non-lightning motor handle ? I know the pistons are weaker and the comp ratio is higher so what is a good amount of boost with a conservative AFR?

I am running more boost, and with a built 4.6 using a Procharger. Don't know what power is cause Mike Troyer has had truck since April, but I probably won't see those kind of numbers.

April...yikes. With a built 4.6 and more boost I bet you could see higher than those numbers.

650-700rwhp is about all that Whipple is going to breathe on pump gas. Maybe slightly more.

Strong as ever. Looking forward to some drag racing as spring roles around. If she'll dead hook at 1.7 like she did this past fall I hope to run a 12.5 now that the plugs are fresh. Also wanting a dyno run at sea level.

You ever think about doing cams? Im thinking this summer I may do some detroit rocker blower grind cams. They only make about 25-30RWHP from what I see but they aparently sound badass too. I want to put them in my truck and see what I get power wise on my VMP tune with the cams before I increase PSI to reach that 450RWHP goal...

I would love to do cams and something with a badass idle too. Just holding out till I go with a built motor. Sure I could reuse them if I installed them now and go built later but with with my luck they would somehow end up ruined when this motor goes. Look forward to hearing your results!!

Always wanted to ,what about some real mild degree cams on a stock 4.6L 3v?? will be blown eventually, need some scratch though, figure by the time I hit 50K on the stock motor I should be game.

12.5s pretty quick for a SCREW anyway ,hell I'd take a 13.1 I mean...thats a freakin truck ya know what Im sayin! disgusting rides men love em

Hello, I write from Venezuela, surprised by these numbers, I congratulate you greatly, now, I will take the opportunity to ask you a question, given your vast knowledge with whipple, I just installed my supercharger pulley with 3.25 inches, 39 pounds injectors, I have understood that this block of 3.25 I get about 9 psi of boost, even though I have a problem of gasoline at 4000 rpm which I will settle with 2 pumps in parallel, my supercharger pushes no more than 5.2 psi, my mechanic did not is the reason, and I'm concerned, that you think may be happening. Thank you.

3.25" pulley should be 8PSI. If you have fuel issues at 4000RPM they must be fixed before you continue to hammer on it. Stock fuel pump is more then enough for 8PSI. You need to get a custom tune for the 39lb injectors from any of this places
