I went down this road before with my last system in my dodge stealth. I successfully crammed re8's where the rear 6x9s were supposed to go... it took a lot of liquid nails and expanding foam but it worked very well and the oem panels still fit for a clean stealth look.... only problem was I couldn't get them out once they were all glued in. you really have to know what to expect tho.. those re8's had some great midbass kick but rolled off to high to be a usefull sub.
