I never lock mine. If had a blond in the back and crashed into the river I wouldn't want her to drown! Sorry I couldn't resist.
I have an A.R.E. cover also so I don't lock it either. Come to think of it I don't lock the cover very often either.

I would lock mine.....if it came with one. One of the many "to-do's" for my truck in the future.

Believe it or not i learned my lesson the hard way. My tailgate was STOLEN at the county fair.. they are quick release tailgates after all so watch out. AND IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!!!

Keep it locked!!!

It is a big item getting stolen where I am at. Most end up damaged in accidents or everyday loading and unloading. I can get mine off in about 20-30 seconds and to some people that would beat buying one or paying a deductible.

I never lock mine. On the other hand, I have a Topdeck fiberglass tonneau cover that overlaps the tailgate, and I always keep that locked, regardless of whether or not I have something in the back.

since i always have my toolbox, tow rope and log chain back there I always lock that and pull the tab stops over on my soft tonneau even though anybody with a knife, some ambition and 30 seconds could slash on in. the thing that makes me feel good about it is that if the person had any ambition they wouldn't be stealing

After reading these posts and remembering what happened when i left my old truck parked at my brother's house for a year, I'll be locking mine from now on.

why there locked

I always complain cuz usually when I ask a question a lot of people give me smart *** answers...some of these were pretty funny...especially the blonde joke. Anyways I just wanted to mention that the reason for the lock is so your gate doesn't get jacked. With the addition of a cover you can use it for security reasons, but that's the reason for the lock...now I just wish mine worked! Later
