NO problems whatsoever! I have the controller set to start at around 200 deg..at about 198 or so the fans begin the soft start sequence. I don't haul anything out of the ordinary, but if I did these fans would no doubt take care of any issue that might come up.

Hi guys, I was thinking about the same to cool my f150 2000 4.6l with possibility of using the 2010 fans. I did a lot of research and I found this way to control engine cooling fan. Check this thread:

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=839089

He is using a Volvo efan controller. The thing is if I use it to control 2 separate fans I don't know if the controller will manage the higher amp draw of the high speed fan. It's a single fan installation on the Volvo. Maybe If put a relay between controller and the fan to hold the current. This guy using dual stage sensing probe. I was thinking to instal it on upper rad hose with fitting attachment or maybe somewhere on engine if possible. On my intake manifold, there's a dummy plug behind the alternator. Is't related to cooling system? I found this way cheap, reliable and I can bring spare parts in case of failure.

Question

Most talk about adding this dual fan 2010 mod to their 04+ but is this pretty straight forward for a 97-03?
Thanks

Hi brandonizr, I don't really understand when you said it's 'straight forward'. From 1997 to 2009 all f150 engines are cooling with a mechanical clutch design fan. So to install a 2010 efan on my truck or newer model, I don't really see any difference. My goal is to install this dual fan on my truck too. Maybe I missed something... Thanks

Just wondering if it is the same or maybe even easier on the older 97-03 models since most have installed on the 04+. I don't really know the difference between the 2 generations, definitely not an expert.
