I've had a Beltronics 955 for 6 years now. Seems to work good as it usually picks up the radar before I can see where it might be coming from. $180 on amazon.

Please don't get a cobra or one of those other cheapo's.

There will always be people that say "Don't speed and you won't need one". Whether or not you speed it's a nice gadget to have. I'd rather be informed than not informed.

Get one with a built in jammer if it's legal in your area and you can afford one. That's what I did. Always remember that not all states allow them, so if you are traveling through a state where they are not allowed, don't forget to unplug it and remove it from your dash.

I also agree that the Valentine One is one of the best on the market...

The Escort 8500 always treated me well until it was stolen out of my truck. Think the 9500 is a bit more sophisticated version of it.

+1 for V1. I love mine and have it hardwired and mounted to the mirror with a blendmount. The Bogie counter and directional arrows are truly useful, especially in areas where other radar sources may be present.

You won't go wrong with a Valentine or an Escort. I had an Escort 8500 for a very long time and recently swapped to 9500ix in both rides.

I speed everyday (anywhere from 10 to 30 over) and had various radar detectors from cobra to belltronics. Had a few tickets here and there from my radar not going off right away. I finally got a 9500ix and never had a speeding ticket since. Saves me about twice a week. Just watch out for laser, not much you can do once your hit.

I have the Escort 9500IX and it works pretty good and the best part is it will lock out false signals after the third pass by the same store and so on.
