I'll have to ask my customers. I would assume this is because of the lockout feature maybe?

There are other brands avialable such as ones by Scosche model #FD1426B, Bestkits model #BKFD1432B, American International offers one as well but can't remember the number.

The dash kit that I have used is the Metra 95-5812?

American International FM-K552, it's the one I got to install my Clarion. It will be here on Thursday, so I will let everyone know how it turns out.

KC Autosound,
After doing some research i have came to the conclusion that the reason my radio goes to "audio only" when I start my truck is because it was not wired correctly to play while in motion. Can you tell me how you wired that one you installed on the Ford fusion I believe so DVD's can play while in motion. Thanks.. I also have to purchase a Metra Kit for my 05 F150 because I stated before the shop I took it to cut the bottom of the kit they installed and did a very poor job of it so I'm going to replace it myself. I looked on your website but can''t find the Metra Kit I need. Thanks again!

On this thread it states that a guy bought a Speciality Electronics Video Bypass. I dont know how the shop I took my truck to did it but do I need to ask them if they installed this?

It is a lot easier just to get the bypass off ebay.

It is much cheaper to do the bypass yourself. I did mine in about 10 mins total, wiring the switch, placing the switch, everything.

Anyways, I got mine installed and it's great.
Installation was super easy, took less than and hour and a half for everything. Of course, I didnt get the nav unit and all the extras that I dont need anyways. My iPod adapter cord will be here tomorrow and I will take pics of everything when I have the dash back apart, including the switch.

Alright, here are a couple pics of my bypass. It cant get any easier or cheaper than this. I got the switch from O'Reilly's for 2.99 and a pack of the connectors for 4.99.
As you can see in this pic, I just cut a rectangular hole on the lowermost panel of the fuse box door, the switch is just a press fit into the hole.

In this pic, the wire that is connected to the uppermost prong is the wire that comes from the head unit for the parking brake. The lowermost wire goes to a ground. There is a good grounding spot right below the fuse block.

Why do you need a switch for the bypass? I thought the bypass allowed yu to play dvds while truck is in motion. Right now if I have a dvd in when i turn off my truck it comes back as Audio Only when I turn it backon. So I have to switch to tumer then back to DVD so it can play....

latinosgt-The bypass I got on ebay works like this. When I turn to ipod video or pics or dvd or any video input it flashes audio only then works fine. I dont have to turn it off or switch.

RU55EL-If all you have it a switch with a ground and parking brake connected why cant we just ground the parking brake.

The same question has been asked a million times, I don't know why you cant just ground it, but it wont work with a solid ground.

There is also a trick with a switch, no matter what kind of switch you put in. You have to switch it off, on, off, on, and then it works.

Newbreed, I understand that your ebay stuff works too, but I would much rather spend less than 10 bucks on something that works as well as something that costs 60 or 80, whatever that ebay stuff costs.

I dont know what kind of bypass you are using, I dont have to switch back to tuner and then to dvd to keep playing after it had been turned off and tunred back on. I just flick the switch twice, and the dvd picks back up where it was. It's much quicker than switching between tuner and dvd.

all i did for mine was ground the wire . . . then hook a switch to it.

when you want to watch a dvd just flip the switch. if the unit loses power, ie turn the ignition off, you flip the switch again (when you turn the ignition back on) and you've got video.

NOT HARD AT ALL
