Thanks for pointing us in the right direction, KC.

About the remote on wire from the bypass, I'm pretty sure that gets tapped into the blue wire from the 675VD head unit. Since there's isn't a REMOTE ON wire, but I think the blue wire from the headunit (AMP power or something to that effect) is the same thing. Anyone with a different idea?

Could I ask what's probably a dumb question? Where's the PCM? I really need to get a Haynes book or something.

Start splicing wiring harnesses tomorrow. Dash teardown this weekend...

The blue/white wire is the remote on wire. Splice the bypass there

How about the parking brake wire from the Nav, I guess I can splice that into the green wire coming off of the bypass along with the one coming from the headunit?

Start removing the dash tomorrow, and I have to figure out how to run the wires up the back of the seats for the video monitors. I think it'll be worth it when she's all done.

Thanks for the help.

Dash is out. Dang, what a mess of wires I've got!! Still tweaking the plastic assy so the HU will fit tight. Still can't find how to get to the PCM wires. I need the Speed Sense one. KC says it's gr/blk #58 or #68.

Going to try to run the wires for the headrest monitors tomorrow, got to figure out how to loosen the seat covers. I think they're clipped together on the bottom of the seat.

Thanks for all the help so far. I think I have a plan of attack, let's just see how it goes.

So far...

Headrests are installed. I had to take the seats out to run the wires to the console. I ran them along the bottom of the trans. hump so you can't see the "wire bulge".

Head unit is installed, but I'll have to take it out again to hook up the video cables to the back monitors. I needed 3 RCA splitters (1 video, 1ea for LH/RH audio) for the headrest monitors. I just wanted to hook up the HU to make sure it works. Hooked up the Ipod connector as well. So far, everything is working well.

I had to do some serious modding to the black plastic piece that holds the radio. Mine wasn't built for double din, so it took a lot of Dremeling to get the opening right. I also used longer bolts to go through the black plastic and into the radio. I checked the depth prior to installing the bolts.

I've got the Nav antenna ran to the center of the dash against the window. I still have to mount the Nav hard drive to the floor though.

Big things left to do are :
Run the Nav and the HU parking brake wires to the bypass

Find and tap the speed sense wire from the PCM. Thanks to KCAUtosound, I know what color to look for,(gry/blk 58 or 68) just having a hard time finding it!

Put the whole dash back together. And pray !that everything fits!!!

If anyone can tell me where the Spped Sense wire is out of the PCM, I'll buy you a beer or 6!!!

I've been taking pics of the whole thing and will post when sucess is achieved.

Thanks for all the help and advice

Daryl

Glad I could help.

I just put a Max675 with nav into a customers 06 Focus monday along with two amps, extra battery, door speakers, two subs and alarm/remote start. This was my first sale/install of the Clarion unit and nav. I will say it has a pretty good sound but compaired to the menu system on my Kenwood unit in my truck the customer seemed a little dissapointed. He really wanted the DNX-7100 for his car but they have been on a backorder. He just couldn't wait.

I will say that the unit is very easy to use. Route calculation was pretty darn fast. We took it for a run around the streets and missed a few turns on purpose. It had a route figured out before the next street. My Kenwood unit sometimes takes a bit to recalculate and by the time if figures the next street you may have passed it already. The nav screen is pretty cool. One of a kind with the sweeping menu. All other units are basic with just windows to press. The Clarion seems to be more business and straight to the point. Ipod control is cool. No guess work there. The screen looks just like your ipod.

I just purchased the Clarion MAX675VD and since you are highly regarded on this forum I figured I would give you some extra business. I am going to take the radio to a local shop to get installed so I need everything that it takes for install on a 05 F150 King Ranch with Audiophile. I want to be able to use my steering wheel controls and also attach an IPOD. ALso, someone posted on here something abot a different harness in order to use the factory sub with the Clation. I assume I would also need a wiring harness and install kit. Thanks

Though I would appreciate the business I would recommend purchasing the parts from the shop that you are asking to install your radio. Help them out. A shop would take it as an insult that you not only purchased your equipment from somewhere else and brought it to have it installed but then also the installation parts as well. My recommendation is to simply install it yourself. Extremely easy to do with your truck. I have no problem taking care of you with the parts. I'm just thinking of the shop. Times are hard for us. Just contact me through my website for anything.

On a side note. The friend/customer that just purchased the Clarion MAX675VD on 7/03/07 just got hit with some sort of financial issue. He called upon me a couple days ago to try to sell his MAX675 unit for him. He has actually been out of town for nearly two weeks with the vehicle sitting at his father's house. Very limited use with the radio. I will sell this unit for the discounted price that he purchased it from me at $750.00 plus shipping. The radio is already wired for a Ford vehicle and I will include a new dash kit and antenna adapter if your vehicle requires it. I have also wired a toggle switch to the unit so you can bypass the video lockout. This unit comes with full warranty and packaging.

If you are interrested in the NAX970HD 30 Gig navigation piece for this I will sell it for $660.00 if interrested. Any other Clarion accessory for this unit I will work with you as well. This kid is a good guy with a head on his shoulders. Just fell on some hard times with money. We've all been there. Figured I'd help him out.

Contact me via my website with any questions you may have. I do not wish to carry discussions about this sale on this site.

That's just silly on thier part. F150s can't get any easier. Ofcourse some shops just can't cut it sometimes. I had a customer take his Kenwood DNX7100 to his local shop because he claimed he didn't want to try it himself in his 07 Expedition. I guess it turned into a disaster and he had them remove it. His truck will be in my driveway in the morning to work on. He lives about a hour and a half away. Which works out for me. We are installing new Boston Acoustic speakers in all four doors and a Boston 5 channel amplifier and subs. I need to call the shop up and say THANKS!!!

Just hit me up through the number on my site. Call me anytime.

KC,
Well, I found the parts here locally and took them to get them installed. It is installed now but it comes way out about 1/2 and inch. I read somewhere on here that there is a way to get it to sit flush. I am taking it back Monday so they can get it flush. I think I saw pics on one installed and it was fluc\sh but it was on 02 F150. Do you know how to get it to sit fluch on a 05? Also, the speakers make a "pop" sound everytime I turn on the truck do you know how to stop this so I can let them know...(last time I will use them to do anything)

On a seperate note, I will be looking to buy the Clarion Nav unit in the upcoming 2 weeks. can you email me and let me know what kind of pricing you have and maybe on some door speakers.... Thaanks

depending how they installed the unit they should have use the iso-mounting brackets that bolt on the side of the radio. You then just have to move the bolts back to a deeper setting. On this focus we used a Metra 95-5812 double-din kit.

As for the "POP" sound. They need to install a 5K resistor inline on the remote lead to the audiophile amplifier. That should take care of it.

I'll hit you up later via email.

On a side note. I recommend you remove your email address from this posting. Web crawlers search forums to find email addresses and with it posted like it is you may start to get junk mail.

I have the same metra kit. I pushed it all the way back like that and now it wont even open. It is getting stuck at the bottom. Did you do any cutting on that install.
