Now if I would have said it I'd have cheerleaders banging on my door.

I like to know what people pay for things. That way I can consider the item or not. It seems Rob started this entire project with a BUDGET BUILD-UP. Because he choose to take short cuts he didn't achieve his goal. Now it appears (at least for the time being) that he has met that goal. I was wondering if this was part 2 of the budget build up. I'm guessing no. I'm guessing Rob won't share with us the cost of his recent build up.

It is true that the Magnum powers blower was the greatest thing on earth, when rob received it free from charles. And that it was one of the many components that he blamed for his initial shortcomings on part 1, along with unported heads, bad valve springs, an uneven bleck deck, yada yada.. there were so many I forgot them all.

I appologize to those I offend, but I find it difficult to give much weight to someones opinions that flip flops more than a democrat running for election. Someone who has received preferential treatment tend to have skewed opinions.

As for billable hours? It is really none of your business, but as you have jumped to yet another incorrect ASSumption as I don't have billable hours.

#1 there isn't ONE item I didnt Blame that didnt deserve blame

The Mag was and still IS the greatest valued SC out there, YES I questioned if any of my prob's were related to it, and YES I stated after process of elimination IT WASNT.

And if you or anyone doesnt think the factory heads, lack of port, and springs DIDNT play a part of my orig motors low #'s (and problems), your all crazy. Of course they played a part, A HUGE PART, it was extremly obvious I couldn't flow out what I was taking in, and my bitching and complaining is what caused Charles to go out there and prove the springs were an issue, something NONE OF US KNEW FOR SURE before I experienced what I did.

I have never flipped flooped, I simply got upset and stated my views and findings as they appeared, (on anything I felt played a part). Yes I looked to point the finger at something ? thats what you do when you have a unique problem like I had and have tried everything else. But I still run the Mag, I still run the Race Tested Kit, and I still run everything else that wasnt broken and or needed replacing.

I flipped on NO ONE, a matter of fact instead of doing like the rest did and bailing out on the Mag, I now have one of the highest Mag's on the planet. Ya I questioned it once (for a short time), but what I uncovered is why it's so successful today, and we ALL benefit from it.

YOUR WELCOME

And even know me and Sal had some words on line ONCE, we have long made up and continue to be friends. AMOF I stopped by his shop this week.

You seem to think there's something else going on here, there's NOT.
My orig PSP Bill was 7.5K and as I've always said the USED MAG was shipped to Sal from Charles and included to me in a packaged price. But when all was said and done I actually spent over 10K with Sal, (no more low budget beast)
and if it makes you feel any better I can honestly say I spent ALOT more this time around. A job like this will cost you 13-15 K (and more if your adding alot of what I already had), ie: Headers, Cats, Cat Back, Pumps, Inj's, Upper, TB,
etc...

So if your honestly looking to find out what a 600 HP Beast will cost to build,
figure 15-17K and you'll be in the area. Unfortunately I have well over 25K in mine now when you add up the Stock Motor Mods, plus these two built Motors.

WOW!!! I would be lucky to buy all the spark plugs and 3 CAI intakes that you have gone through in the last year.

Do the tuners insist on running their CAI with their engine packages?

You mean like pissing on your GF to mark your territory ???
Oh like you guys don't do that
YOU DO DO THAT RIGHT ???
Ok ok I'm just kidding

Yes Stl it's been a tuff and UNFRIGGINGBELIEVABLY
expensive year (help), But to answer your question each tuner and builder has his own idea of the perfect Air Intake System, (and look). When your going for the full deal motor, (no stone un-turned) and their sinking all their time energy and technoligy into your results, they of course have a certain set up they go with, and yes that would include their intake system.

It makes perfect sence to me but the icing on the cake is I had too much black in the compartment before so the sliver-ish color filter, along with the stripping and polishing of my upper pulleys really changed the look to more my liking anyway

[EDIT]
Now I need to move that one wire from in front of the Mag Snout and sand the writing down and clear coat it like I did before.

Add to that the Sliver-ish color Filter and Polished Upper Pulley
and I'm in, woo hoo..

Try having two vehicles to mod at the same time and a spouse who likes racing.. You got it easy

I'm glad things worked out for you Rob. Now bring that beast out to WFC in May so we can line them up.

Hi Rob

Just a quick question;

What fan setup are you running - stock or electric?
There has been a little debate on this site from time to time about electric fans - two is better than one Blah Blah Blah.

My first dealings with JDM was two years ago when I purchased electric fan kit from them - big mother single one with twin speed.
Only ever use it on low and works real good even after long runs on hot days and stuck in traffic.
Cuts in and out on block sensor but have manual bypass.

Anther little trick was to install a interlock timer relay to bring fan on when brake applied for a given period.
Set timer for between 5 & 20 seconds dependant on outside air temperature.
The basic idea was to turn on fan when sitting at lights etc in order to keep engine bay cool and vented rather than wait for engine temp to get hot enough to switch on.
When you have long tube headers the engine bay gets hot quick when sitting still so all the benifit of electric fan - less HP loss but cooling on after you have stopped or moving slow in traffic.
Works good and keeps engine temperature even. You hardly ever need to use the bypass switch. It's fully Auto.

Did you get your braking sorted or are you still on seat of pants driving??

Ricki

I hear you Mark, believe me this was almost like having 2 vehicles to mod at once. As for having a Wife into the same thing as you (racing), god I wish I was so lucky, but man that must get expensive .
Anytime I think of the night we were all getting ready to go to JDM Day together, and your Wife (Michelle) put her face right up in Sal's and said ARE YOU SURE IT'S READY TO RACE, I laugh my *** off,
He was speechless for a minute there too, a def Kodak moment, hehehehe

He Ricki, I know your excited as hell, schitt I am, is that Monster Running yet, hehehehe ; o )
As for a Fan, Sal actually picked up quite a bit of power on the Dyno with mine when we did it, I was very surprised to see 12 and even a tad more HP as a result. We did it last after all the other Mods went on so as people always say certain Mods are part of the big picture and eventually ARE needed, (doing it 3 years ago may have only netted me a couple of pony's for all I know though ???)

I have one Big *** Single Fan, the one that use to be on Big Red amof, (Sals Beast). Jim hooked me up by rewiring the entire set up with a thermostatic control turning it on at 189 degrees (I believe it was), and turning back off at 180. As you can see in the pic's he also provided me with a manual switch for it, and I see other new wiring so he may have incorporated the intercooler pump into that bypass manual switch too ??? (Note to self, ask Jim about that)

None of my business and NONE of your business. That seems to be the opinion of others here too. But I imagined you had to think how you could crap on Robs thread? Funny you never had a problem before. Oh wait, he was using your tuner, so everything was okay then.

But you just can't wait to jump in any JDM thread and start *****.
I've see it time and time again, I just happen to be the one calling you on it. Well, me and the Kangaroo............ but your entitled to you opinion.

So your calling me an ***, for pointing out of your childish behavior
Thats okay,

Lets see cheerleader's and chit-stirrer's
I know what I rather be called, especially when the day comes that I have to answer to the BIG MAN!

Happy Holidays and looking forward to your continuing bashing in the new year

Careful Rob

When one tuner claimed to pick up 10 more ponies using his fan kit, a few people jumped all over that claim!
Now your going to claim 12!!!!

Yet another ASSumption...
who exactly is my tuner? I've had 4 of them.

And Thank you Rob for answering my question as to how much you spent. I didn't really think it was a secret, unlike what some people ASSumed. I figured that amount was about the average price to have the power and performance that you have received. Congratulations!

gator, the threads I jump on are the threads where outlandish statements are made that require clarification. Ironically, they are usually made by you regarding a specific tuner. Was this really JDM thread or was Rob explaining how excited he was to have his truck back? I think the later.

Oh wait, my secretary is bring my Latte', Back to work.

Counselor

I believe the word you are looking for is "latter":

latter:
adj : referring to the second of two things or persons mentioned (or the last one or ones of several); "in the latter case" [syn: latter(a)] [ant: former(a)] n : the second of two or the second mentioned of two; "Tom and **** were both heroes but only the latter is remembered today" [ant: former]

later:
1. Coming, occurring, or remaining after the correct, usual, or expected time; delayed: The bus is late. See Synonyms at tardy.
2.
1. Beginning after or continuing past the usual or expected hour: a late breakfast; a late meeting.
2. Occurring at an advanced hour, especially well into the evening or night: a late movie on television; the late flight to Denver.
3. Of or toward the end or more advanced part, as of a period or stage: the late 19th century; a later symptom of the disease.
4.
1. Having begun or occurred just previous to the present time; recent: a late development.
2. Contemporary; up-to-date: the latest fashion.
5.
1. Having recently occupied a position or place: the company's late president gave the address.
2. Dead, especially if only recently deceased: in memory of the late explorer.

LMAO
Where did I make any outlandish statment here. Seems my friend it was you that made the ASSumption!
My question to you about billing, was to show you its none of anybody's business. The price of the complete longblock was on the tuners site for all to see. Not sure why you saw the need to ask Rob how much he spent.
Must be a busy day huh? 13 minutes after I make the post, your right back at it........LOL
Careful with that latte', I hear they are hot!

Happy Holidays
Cheerleader out!
