I know Rob has spent a lot of money....haven't we all, (we should compare notes sometime Rob ) But he could be a lucky bastard too, I think his truck showed up at JDM at a really good time. He's got a good combo now.

Now a question for Jim Jr. What springs are in my motor?

Hi Rob & everyone else - HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Magum Powers

Am I right in judging by your handle your connected with the now famous blower upgrade for the 'L'

I am in the process of putting mine together but cannot locate the Oil hole plug in the bag of goodies, the stock Eaton one does not fit - too small.
Is this something I have to find myself - not a problem as I can find a nice SS one somewhere.
Instructions say fill with oil & replace plug??

2nd question - it was supplied with a pulley that is smaller than the stock Eaton I think it's a 2.75 instead of a 3.0 am I right.

Thanks in advance for any help

Ricki

Ricki,
There should have been a brass plug in the bag the bolts were in that is normally packed in the intake port. If it is missing I apologize. I can send you one or you can purchase one from your local hardware store. It is just a ¼” brass pipe plug, it should not cost more then 50 cents.

The Mag comes with a 2.75” pulley because of its port design it likes to be spun up for best performance. That's right Ricki I am very closely associated with the company.

Cheers and Happy New Year to All,
Charles

Thanks Charles

Pulley - thought that was the reason, should fly with the 8 pounder below.
No brass plug - not a problem as I have plenty of UHP hydraulic fittings and pump parts so there is one in the shop - somewhere.
Least I looked for the plug before filling with oil.

Rob sent me e-mail so will keep in touch.

Happy New Year

Ricki

Ricki, it will scream with your pulley combo. Mine runs the same. On a fairly conservative and overly rich race tune I am running 11.5 after three outings, each better than the one previous. I expect to come close to running 10s with this setup.(although I couldn't pass up the NX christmas special offered by JDM)

I will nag you again Rob - get those brakes sorted, all that money burning holes in your pockets go for the Willwood - slotted & vented.
You know you want to................................................ .........

You will be over the ton and your brakes will fail again and have you Sweating Like a Rapist - new pants for driver please & pass the soap & towell.

Anyway what did Jim @ JDM say about bedding down the motor ??

Somehow, it seems perfectly reasonable that Rob would make that particular comparison. We'll take your word for it buddy.

Rob, weren't you graphs from Sal's place on stock heads and cams? They do make a big, big difference in dyno sheets. As with different cams, your power will still continue to climb to a certain RPM. Glad to see you hit 600 on the Mag.

Thanks NC
I guess I used a bad comparison, sorry all. As said in no way shape or form was I comparing #'s, I was just trying to show how the weaker springs clearly show a drop off of power at a certain RPM. And YES do I now belive MORE THAN EVER how important head, springs, and cams ARE

But THERE IS a spot where weaker springs vs the boost your running can and will lose you HP. I wish I had the Dyno Graph of when we tried the 10lb Lower and the 2.7 Upper on my old motor, MAN OH MAN did the HP drop off, amof it actually lost a considerable amount compared to my normal #'s using less Boost, that is what I was trying to show. If Sal pops in I hope he post that one, we clearly saw the results of weak springs on that sheet.

This is basically what it looked like
A spot were it dips and no longer continues it's normal climb (or drop in the TQ case), instead it drops off and continues to drop instead of what it would have been doing, in the HP's case that would be continue to climb.
Of course yes with good heads and cams it'll climb higher than the stockers.
