I am extremely happy with my results and simply giving credit to JDM for what I see as a really awesome achievement, and most of us see it that way too
This is not about Johnny building the fastest Gen II's on the planet, AND FOR THE RECORD YES HE DOES, nor about Sal and his customer and their awesome Trucks. I really hate the seperation between camps as we call it here, you all know I have always delt with all the vendors and I always woo hoo all their achievements, and that will never change for me.
I would be lieing if I myself didnt admit there have been times in the past I've seen JDM post a Dyno result and had to say to myself, HOW THE HELL DO THEY GET THAT MUCH POWER OUT OF THAT SET UP ???? WTF ???
So believe me Chim I have no problem with you saying what you did.
HOWEVER
Someone here point out to me "1" JDM truck that put down those awesome #'s and then didn't back it up with an equally awesome ET ???
I watched Gators truck run back to back 10's "at full weight" I now have that identical set up (and maybe a little more), so why should I be doubtful ?
I'm NOT. Mike did the same thing on the same day also with one of these new designed motors, so again why is it so hard to belive ?
We all just watched V run 29 10's out of 29 tries including multi 10.3's and 5's.
This on a motor that prob has hundreds and hundreds of passes on it, pretty got dam impressive if you asked me, no doubt there..... Guys like Jamie, Don, and Vinnie (and hundreds more) have proved that you can take these JDM motors and run them day in and day out, week after week, year after year,
and at any giving time tune um up and go get yourself your best ET ever.
Asking me to doubt those accomplishments before I even finish breaking mine in or even making a pass on it, is just crazy. But I'll tell you what,
when spring comes and I start making passes, should they be 11.8's and 9's, point me to the nearest Dyno

This continued argument that daily driven 10's is the only things that matters is just beyond me.
The FACTS are this........ You can do a search and you will come up with more JDM built trucks that are running big numbers. Does this mean that JDM builds the most 10 second trucks? NO IT DOESN'T. Do the numberous posts from the customers give strong evidence that it might be a FACT that JDM does build the most 10 second trucks? YES it does.
Does the fact that a tuner has 206 (random number by the way) daily driven 10 second trucks out there make them the top dog in the Lightning World? No it doesn't. Does it speak great lengths about what this Tuner/builder is doing and help persuede people when making a decision on who do go with? YES it does. Come on now. Don Cobin was on of the first 10 second trucks out there in a daily driven trim. He drives all over the freakin place. How many problems does he have? Aside from a few KB issues that were fixed.......none. He's gotta have close to 35-45k miles on that motor, which is strides away from the technology they are using now. That's called reliability. No slap, no smoking..........nothing.
You can say what you want about this one vs that one. Do you really think that JIM, or SAL couldn't tube frame, tub, and chop a lightning down and run 9's with it??? If you don't, you are a moron. Who knows, Sal or Jim could already be running 8's with that setup??? No one knows???? Johnny chose do go that way and it's exiting what he's doing, but it doesn't make him the best. Just like because JDM has the unofficial most 10 second et daily driven lightnings out there doesn't make them the best. What it makes is all of us luckly enough to have these guys putting the time, effort , and money into such a limited production vehicle so we can continue to make them faster and more enjoyable, even after they stopped building them.
But the facts are the facts. The facts are that we hear more and more trucks coming from the JDM stable. IF it's not a fact that there ARE more trucks coming from other tuners.........then why are they so afraid to come on here and post about their trucks? You mean that it's just coincedence that more guys with JDM built trucks have computers, or internet, or know more about message boards then anyone else? Let's cut the crap here. Seriously. Let's start seeing some more posts about PSP or JLP 11 second, or 10 second or 9 second vehicles popping up and then maybe there's an argument here. Untill then there's no argument. JDM cheerleader or not. Use the SEARCH button and see for yourself. 10 second daily drivers aren't really even a big deal anymore. They are like the 12 second daily drivers, of years back, and the 11 second daily drivers of a year or 2 ago. They are becomming a dime a dozen, except a little more expensive to modify. I have nothing against them and you bet your *** i'm jealous!!!!
9 second trucks you ask for? Vinnie's Big Pig is running low 10's on no juice. Granted it's on almost a one-off blower that has yet to hit mass production, but it's been done. I'm sure you will see a 9 second daily driver this upcoming season, if there isn't one already out there already. God knows only what's posted on these boards is creed. I think you may see a handfull of daily drivers in the 9's. 32 valve 5.4's are getting dropped in these things soon. I'm still waiting for someone to try and squeeze the 10 cylinder triton in one of these trucks. That would be cool!!!
The problems right now are half the 10 second trucks are not running on the tracks legally, and the more they see them, the more they are gonna start busting ***** about the tranny shields, and blankets and aftermarket axles and what ever else we have managed to get away with. Lightnings are not sleepers anymore. There are no secrets. These trucks have made their mark on the street and strip, in any or every trim.
As long as their are people and companies out there, taking care of all of our needs, whether one does more buisness or not, we should just all shut the hell up and be thankfull.
Congrats again Rob on another Fast truck to come out of PSP, and now as of later JDM.

Do you recall a post a few months ago when JLP offered a special on shortblocks and had about 10 of them lined up in his building? What do you think those engines went into? a Focus?

You know about JDM, they have the most trucks on the road running 10’s. And if running a 10 second truck is not the point, then why are you on this board spending your kids college fund on a 4lb pulley? From the post from JDM describing their engine (of coarse part of it is a sales pitch), to their customers describing their engines, to the consistent E.T.s they have the best program IMO.
