It is not the solution of the week. Other tuners and owners have backed up the fact the stock valve springs allow the valves to float at high boost pressures and have demonstrated large hp improvements after upgrading the springs. Charles

My point is Charles that you are trying to give Rob more than he originally asked for and it's not working out. I think he should go down to a 6lb lower with 440-450HP and then spray his 100-150 and be happy. He may run into the same problem trying to spray that much, but at this point no one knows.

You may have a good point there Mark.
It's just Rob wanted to hit 500 off spray and it has become apparent that that is not possible with the stock springs so backing off and spraying the heck out of it maybe the best for now. I believe however if he upgraded to 95# or better seat pressure springs he would hit his mark without cams or head porting which are expensive. In the beginning Rob's goal was the low buck rod pathfinder. I agree with him on that and think the solution is the Mag, Valve Springs and Spray. Back then the spring issue was not understood by any of us but as it turns out they are inexpensive and easy enough to install.

I think I would rather play with a rattle snake than run spray (nitrous) with stock valve springs.....I don't care what the boost pressure is. You CAN'T hang (float) an intake valve when you run nitrous (spray).....well you could but I would have a burst panel on the intake manifold....it would help save the sheet metal.

Hey Rob, I know I have been out of the picture for a long time, too long. BUT after tearing apart my '03L and selling all the parts I still had that pain in the *** stuttering or bogging.

That drove me fricking crazy and no one could help me - and I sure as hell couldn't bring my L to the dealership - frick who would do that with all my mods I had. Blah blah blah

Since I was trading it in it had to be flawless so I took it to the dealership after stripping her and the bogging turned out to be a sensor related to the oxygen content or flow into (or out of I can't remember) the engine. I know what your going to say - no codes or warnings ever showed so no one knew what it was, but I lived with that for at least six months of pain in the a$$ studdering.

Except mine would do it a idle and under 50mph if I was cruising at a steady speed, absolutely no ryme or reason to it.

Call me crazy, but they changed the sensor, it was like $12.00 bucks and I was on my way. Hope that helps!

D-Day, still looking for my '02 - think I might have found one on ebay, a silver '02 with no mods other than exhaust. Working off ebay if the reserve is not met. The truck is up in Mass. take a look let me know what you think.

You dont happen to have a bill w/part #, or know what sensor do you ?

BTW, Dan I may know of a really nice Black 02 built L for sale

Track Beast thanks for the Spread Sheet
Dam I was stupid to sell the 8lb ring (&@$#(@&$#(@&$
I was counting the other night, between the Mag and Wasp I have so far gone through 5 aftermarket Upper Pulleys, and 5 aftermarket Lower Pulleys,
why I keep selling them is beyond me, it seems I always end up needing them again and have to re-buy them @$)&%@$()%@$()@$

Loosing the 2.93 Mag Upper is truly pissing me off big time right now,
especially because I know for a fact it was in the truck behind the seat and now it's gone @&#$(&@$(@$^$
I'm going to go check again it has to be there,
It would be perfect right now.

The Pulley Chart is waaaaaaaaaaaay off but I'll use it for comparisons
My boost numbers are "much much higher than shown" but the math will help figure out the combo's and the results for each overall

I'll list the numbers the chart claims will show on Guage with these combos

9.78 + 2.7=18.7 (I had that on initial WOT, but climbed to 22lbs immediately)
this is the Combo I've had all along

10.25 + 2.7=20.3 (new set up, 20 on initial WOT, climb to 24lbs immediately)
as said this proved to be too much, insane IAT temps and big loss of power

What I would like to do next if I can find my pulley @($%(@&^$%(@$
10.25 + 2.93=17.6 (this would take @ 1lb away from my orig set up)
I'd prob see 17 on initial WOT and climb to 20 - 21, this would be perfect......

I sold my 8lb ring FK FK FK FK FK (@#$%@$@($)^@$
9.58 + 2.7=18.0 (this would have made a nice combo too)

I do still have a 6lb ring, I may try this combo too
9.18 + 2.7=16.6 (would be least boost I ever ran, but might be worth trying)

Best combo in my opinion is the new 10.25 + the 2.93
Where oh where did my pulley go, oh where oh where can it be

Searched high and low for any receipt. No luck, sorry.

I think I know who and what L you are talking about. Tuned by JDM, if yes he an I are talking.

Rob I searched your whole truck, and no sign of a pulley. Last I saw it, it was on one of the nose drives.

And DAYUM, you have a lot of **** packed in that truck. I think you are ready for any roadside emergency .

Every time I read a new ROB thread, it is with the hopes of eventually reading:

WOOOOHOOOO I pUt oN nEw STAGE!!!! THREEEEE! HeaDs to WOOOOHOOOO daY anD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHooo

my Dyno sheet looks like ( . ) ( . ) NoWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously dude, heads, cams and springs are cocheblocking any attempt for you to get more love out of your motor.

Read this post, we have a Haloclub member in Hou who went the Sal shortblock with FL stage 2 heads and heavy springs, with Magnum Powers and headers/ hi-flow midpipes. 514HP on pump fuel. That's where I want to be!

Ok, just to clarify a few things...

I did not tell Rob to put on a larger pulley. Charles told him to try more boost, so Rob bought the pulley and brought it down for me to try. We are now going to try this same lower with the 2.9 upper, which should get Rob about 1 psi less than he previous setup, to see if the truck goes back to where it was.

I told Rob specifically to NOT run the nitrous with the truck like this, because if the valves are floating, there is a good chance it could ignite the nitrous charge in the intake and then BOOM. That is why he skipped JDM day, because it would not have been smart to run it on the juice like this.
