If the Parrish guy did the calling out why is it all about changing the rules? Like no slicks and such? If I call you out to fight I'm not gonna tell you you have to fight me blindfolded. I made my bed - now I gotta sleep in it. I think they are both hella cool trucks, but I don't get all the hating on either side.

Thumbs up

Actually,,,,Parish has lots of video's on the net of his "street racing" conquests. always from a roll, everthing from ricers to liter bikes, and the way he holds them off, he's giving everything he's got

I think some of you Guys need to get off your High horses & come back down to Reality. The Chevrolet Turbo Truck is Bad@ss don't get me Wrong but he can't compete with Johnny's Truck now based on Weight, 4-Link, & Tires.
The facts are Johnny was called Out! So it's Run what ya Brung.
I hope some of you Guys can control yourself's a little better instead of acting like some Ricer jerkkofffs.
Johnny Lightning has Really steped Up to the Plate this year trying to build the World's Fastest Lightning. I'm happy that he did this to compete with some of the Fastest Gen 1's in the country. Some of you guys may Not know this because you Don't Race your Trucks Or go out of State to race in the WFC or Lightningfest but Johnny is Trying to Beat Everyone.
I also would like to add that when you want to Go Real Fast like 8's & 7's your Not going to be street Legal Anymore. Especialy in a full size pickup truck. The other thing I would like to add is that you Guys always talk *****t about Trucks that are NOT AT FULL WEIGHT!! That's fine you guys Stay at full weight & continue to get smoked. Good Job Johnny!!

Ralph Voorhees
Well put

Anyway, how come it seems we cant have fans of anything else then fords on here. Pretty much (with a few exceptions) we end up verbal beating anyone who doesn't like Fords. Now I know most of them come over here and say stupid stuff but cant we all just get a long?

PS - GO JLP!!
I own an 02 Sierra.....and a 02 Lightning and a few other brands.

Browbeat a brand.... why ?, they're not sponsoring you are they?

Parish ended his video .......... "as is", no disclaimer.
So the apples to oranges argument about the two trucks setup, although obvious is Irrelavant according to that video.

So where's the race gonna be ?

Why dump all that money into an average truck when you see a billion of them on the street everyday? If you want something for Home Depot runs then buy a beater truck and use it to tow your racecar to the track. 8's on slicks is more fun than 10's on street tires anyday.

JL vs. Parrish comparo

358 (all stroke) vs. 409 (huge bore)
edge goes to Parrish, with 15% larger motor and better breathing bore

Crappy Ford 2V heads vs. LS1 15* heads (when ported flow close to double what ported 2V heads flow)
edge goes to Parrish

KB 2.2 capable of 22psi vs. T76 capable of 1200hp
edge goes to Parrish

125 shot vs. 100 shot
edge goes to JL

Slicks vs. street tires
edge goes to JL

RWD 4 link vs. AWD
they're about even

3400#'s vs. 4500#'s (just a guess)
edge goes to JL

Bottom line, regardless if you're a diehard Ford fan, Parrish has the superior engine combo but JL has the superior chassis. Seems pretty even to me.
I like the way you think!!!!!

This was one crazy thread to read so because I read the whole thing and watched the vid I deserve to post my thoughts. I'm a huge Ford fan and a diehard vehicle enthusiast and I think both trucks are cool as heck. There, I said it. Eat me.

I don't see ANYTHING in this thread that 1. said they would race 2. said anything about stipulations.

I just started early on by pointing out the differences and people got upset and thats when the bench racing started. I would venture to say that the MAJORITY of people can more easily equate themselves to Parish's truck. It's more along the lines of what most on this board will build. Johnny is better equated to Ralph's truck. Hence in the beginning when I said IF anyone made a call out they should call out Sal or Chickin since they have trucks, and not a drag only vehicle.

I could personally care less what JL's drag vehicle runs. On the other had I can't wait to see what Parish does in the future. That's just my opinion, but of course the lemmings start jumping off the cliff as soon as Johnny's reputation as god is threatened.

Some people on here are so brand loyal the first thing they ddi was jump on parish for threatening Johnny, which he didn't, and then they start to browbeat others for saying a Chevy could be faster or is more impressive, like they switched camps.....sheesh.

This guy is lke the energizer bunny, this guy keeps b!tching and b!tching.

Waveblaster... no one here really cares. Parish will have to go to a sanctioned race to run JLP. He's not going to do it, so it is a moot point.

You sound like a nagging woman.

No one cares, yet this is the longest thread this board has seen in months.

Good call

It wouldnt be nagging if you agreed would it? I respect his 2 cent, and anyone else who isnt affraid to say what they feel even though the flock doesnt agree.

WaveBlaster785, Its long because you've posted in it like 20 times and nearly everyone is posting to counter your slanted opinion.

It is quite obvious that you have some beef with JL - that's fine, youre allowed.

I for one get sick to death of all this bench racing crap. It seems especially ironic from you, because, if I recall properly, you've only been to the track a few times.

Why did we each buy our Lightnings? To keep them stock, as Ford intended? I think not. We are all members of the hot rodding community and each of us has a diffent goal and target in mind when we build OUR vehicles. JL wants a race car that is a Lightning (and it is and always will be a Lightning - check the VIN), I want a dual purpose utility truck that I can race whenever I want and run 11s, you may want a clean quick street truck. Point is, with different goals, how can you say this is better than that?

Herb

EDIT - props to Parrish - He's got a great rod hod there that probably does exactly what HE wants it to do.

Why is it that my opinion is slanted, because I don't agree with everyone?

You just said that it's all about individuality but then you go and say that I have a slanted opinion, isn't that a bit of an oxymoron?

I'm done with this thread, but I have a sneaky suspicion it will blow up again regardless.

I have nothing PERSONAL against JL, I just like to ruffle his and a few others' feathers.
