Johnnys truck is still a lightning? When did that happen? Lexan windows, tubbed, Parachute. How many peoples trucks on here a strictly RACE TRUCKS? Yeah what I thought only a couple. Myself personally find nothing impressive about a 9 sec track vehicle they are a dime a dozen. Make that **** driveable on the street and that impresses me. Basically what im saying your god only has a 9 sec track car whoop di doo

Your forgot about his 11.01, PA inspected, daily driven Harley Davidson truck. He also has a PA inspected, daily driven 02', I don't know what track times he has with that.
Why does it upset everyone that someone own's a track vehicle only?? Shoot, I own an 03' that's only weekend driven is that a crime??
Parish, nice times

Lightning or not. The call out "if you want to call it that" was made to JL. So no matter what you consider his truck to be that is what was called out.

Man you guys sound like import FWD "lets race from a roll" "I was on low boost" "I had a rock in my eye" drivers.

Parish has a kick *** truck, so does JL. If Parish wants to try and compete with JL then he has the catching up to do not JL.

I look forward to hearing how both trucks do this summer.

No doubt Parrish's truck is nice, but people make it sound like it's the most badass street driven truck ever.

Anyone else hear ever follow the Syclones/Typhoons? They were out in 1991-1993 and we had street driven trucks in the 10's (mid to low) back in 1998..

Someone want a 9 sec Street Driven AWD truck?
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...es/0407htp_sy/

and that's with a 280ci engine, not a 408 like Parrish's.

In other words, it's cool but man Parrish's truck has become some sort of Internet God.
Impressive? Sure. Been done a LONG time before him? Most definitely.

Now, if it came down to which truck I'd personally want to own between the 1500 and JLP's, I'd take Parrish's no contest. But that's because I like streetable speed.

Ask John Force if he'd rather own a 4 sec Nitro Coupe or a 10 second Vette and I bet he'd take the Nitro Coupe.

It's simple people: EVERYONE has a different idea of what the perfect "race" vehicle is. Johnny and Parrish have 2 different ideas. Parrish will do just fine continuing to make race videos on the internet, and Johnny will be fine at mopping up on the 1320.

Can I get a hug or what?

Thumbs up

Parish weighs in at 4600lbs, JL at about 3400. parish won't catch JL, as long as he want's his truck as a daily driver. i have a 700/1000 truck that see's towing and hauling duty, and as fun as it is, to drive around town, it limits it's track performance greatly, or something

Ive always wanted one of those typhoons or cyclones. maybe thats what i should buy to be my beater for my L. GL to me to find one.

Anyway, how come it seems we cant have fans of anything else then fords on here. Pretty much (with a few exceptions) we end up verbal beating anyone who doesn't like Fords. Now I know most of them come over here and say stupid stuff but cant we all just get a long?

PS - GO JLP!!

Who cares if you're running street tires etc?? To me, its more fun going really fast in a racecar than somewhat quick in a street car. Why dump all that money into an average truck when you see a billion of them on the street everyday? If you want something for Home Depot runs then buy a beater truck and use it to tow your racecar to the track. 8's on slicks is more fun than 10's on street tires anyday.

JL vs. Parrish comparo

358 (all stroke) vs. 409 (huge bore)
edge goes to Parrish, with 15% larger motor and better breathing bore

Crappy Ford 2V heads vs. LS1 15* heads (when ported flow close to double what ported 2V heads flow)
edge goes to Parrish

KB 2.2 capable of 22psi vs. T76 capable of 1200hp
edge goes to Parrish

125 shot vs. 100 shot
edge goes to JL

Slicks vs. street tires
edge goes to JL

RWD 4 link vs. AWD
they're about even

3400#'s vs. 4500#'s (just a guess)
edge goes to JL

Bottom line, regardless if you're a diehard Ford fan, Parrish has the superior engine combo but JL has the superior chassis. Seems pretty even to me.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned the differences in displacement and method of forced induction potential. As far as driving it on the street, Im pretty sure parish isnt driving around with his turbo turned up and spraying 100shot everywhere he goes. Obviously turning off the gas and turning the boost down on the turbo make it more streetable but obviously not 10sec ride in that state. Its all about what you want to do with it.

There are no rules in racing when will some of you get that thru your head.

Does anyone know this Parish guy, and has heard him mention JL by name?

Did anyone stop to think that maybe the "call out" in the video was just towards Lightnings in general? I'm sure JLs truck picture could be easily found on the net; maybe they wanted a track Lightning picture and JLs was the first one they came across.

Personally, when I watched the video, I didn't get the sense that they were targeting JL specifically.

parish has posted a couple times on the chevy forum that he would like to catch Johnny someday. Plus all his chevy supporters on the forum have always targeted johnny as parishs goal since he is the 'top' lightning currently.

Good enough for me . It just didn't seem right to see people make a big deal out of it just from the video.

That GMC Syclone pickup truck that runs 9.8's runs 26# Boost.
That's more boost than my mid 8 Second Lightning makes. (20# Boost)
I think some of you Guys need to get off your High horses & come back down to Reality. The Chevrolet Turbo Truck is Bad@ss don't get me Wrong but he can't compete with Johnny's Truck now based on Weight, 4-Link, & Tires.
The facts are Johnny was called Out! So it's Run what ya Brung.
I hope some of you Guys can control yourself's a little better instead of acting like some Ricer jerkkofffs.
Johnny Lightning has Really steped Up to the Plate this year trying to build the World's Fastest Lightning. I'm happy that he did this to compete with some of the Fastest Gen 1's in the country. Some of you guys may Not know this because you Don't Race your Trucks Or go out of State to race in the WFC or Lightningfest but Johnny is Trying to Beat Everyone.
I also would like to add that when you want to Go Real Fast like 8's & 7's your Not going to be street Legal Anymore. Especialy in a full size pickup truck. The other thing I would like to add is that you Guys always talk *****t about Trucks that are NOT AT FULL WEIGHT!! That's fine you guys Stay at full weight & continue to get smoked. Good Job Johnny!!
